hey so filming people without their consent is weird. you know that right? filming people you don't know and they aren't aware of what you're doing is creepy. posting strangers online is fucking weird. we're too comfortable with doing it now for shits and giggles, chasing some sort of viral hit instead of reckoning with the fact that you posted someone who did not consent to their body and face being publically used.

we're being pushed these Meta Glasses as if mass surveillance of strangers is fun and normal! it's weird!!! there are already reports that people are using these to film women without them knowing and sharing it to communities who get off on this shit. who else knows who people are filming. these glasses with cameras are not obvious and that is dangerous.

The worst person you could ever meet in your lifetime still has a favorite breakfast cereal.

I knew a rapist who was an absolute ride-or-die friend to his gamer bros. Like, give the last dollar from his pocket to a friend who got a flat tire, and then turn around and go rape a Freshman that evening.

I knew a vicious child abuser who wept like a baby when her dog died.

The nastiest human being on the planet nevertheless feels obscurely melancholy sometimes, or has high spirits when they step out doors on the first warm day of spring, or has opinions on their favorite TV show and which side the toilet paper should hang on and whether or not the room should be cold or warm when you go to sleep.

We're all still just people. Complex, with fully-realized interior worlds.

None of that will save you from becoming a monster, if you decide to do monstrous things.

None of it makes you exempt from the consequences of monstrosity.

reading the locked tomb again and gideon is a heroine of the greek tragedy kind, of epic proportions. she is funny and all so it kinda escapes you just how much she just constantly goes through. can’t catch a break. not a single one. not in any context. isolation, betrayal, manipulation, kind of dies at one point, failed lyctorhood, shitty dad, a mother who hated her, ianthe the saint of assholery is also there. she has a hole in chest now. cant even let her die in peace. just give my girl a break ffs. hamlet went through a tenth of what she went through and he ended up with a skull in his hand and an improve routine. he would piss his pants constantly in gideon nav’s shoes. LEAVE GIDEON ALONE!!!
