I feel like starfish are one of those animals that are treated as very “normal” by people but absolutely shouldn’t be. Like they’re a wheel of repeating heads connected by a central stomach. Every time you go in a public place and something ISN’T disgusting it’s because somebody cleaned it. Every time you feel comfortable using a public bathroom or sitting at a restaurant table or setting something on a gas station counter or playing on a playground it’s because somebody cleaned it.

i go to the shop and I ask if they have any raspberries. they say no, they used to sell raspberries, but they haven't had any in stock in the last 15 years. I ask if there's somewhere else I can go to buy raspberries. They say no, with confidence and pride, they're the only shop around who has ever sold or will ever sell raspberries. Other shops might sell other fruit, sure, but they have a monopoly on all raspberries forever. I ask if they're possibly planning on them selling them again in future? they say they can't tell me that.

on the way home, I encounter someone eating raspberries. I ask and they tell me that they grow their own, they got some seeds from the shop back in The Raspberry Days and kept them. They take me to a field of many beautiful raspberry plants and invite me to pick my own, they're free for all the town to pick whenever they'd like.

Super hot take but I unironically think the legal voting age should be raised to 30. The individuals who are voting for the people who have created the problems we have today are overwhelmingly young people, fresh out of high school to college aged students. You haven’t really had much of a chance to actually live life in the real world as an adult yet at that age and when you’re young and impressionable and every university in the country is publishing articles like this—

—yeah, you’re going to have no idea what you’re talking about and it’ll affect how you vote. This isn’t an anti-higher education post, go get that degree if you’re sure it’s needed. But completely normal, rational people graduate from high school and then come out of college four years later with micro bangs, shaved off eyebrows, 27 facial piercings, and a friend group of exclusively people who sexually identify as aliens. The pre- to post-college pictures of lots of these people are insane. It’s (mostly) the education system that’s doing this to people. I think people who are newly emotionally riled up after college at about that age shouldn’t be allowed to vote. By the time you’re 30 you’re most likely done, you’ve had time to cool down from that, live a little, see for yourself how the world works, and come to the conclusion that college filled your head with a bunch of bullcrap, because your lived experience contradicts what you were led to believe. Then, I think, it’s safe to allow you to vote.
