Trying to figure out stylistic choices if I no longer care about my work being commercially appealing or aiming for specific illustration clients with my oldest OC again as always

I finally trying to paint again but I got distracted in the middle of the big huge gonna-be-50-hour painting (that is obviously not this one) because of moving shit to my new computer so I let myself draw the stupid mary sue instead because I've been needing a new PFP for my non-art twitter/tumblr accounts anyways

Just as I finally got all this put together, I realized there's four more minor characters whose designs aren't on here because they were quickly sketched in a different style. RIP

I didn't like the way that last painting looked as a userpic on twitter and its been bugging me. I guess my primary reason for learning to paint things in the first place (to have a cute forum signature or social media avatar) are finally curing my long art burn out as well as anything has.

So long story short I gave myself anime boy brainworms to try to make them fight my burnout and it worked for once

I think all that really polished social media, the “I can’t share stuff that looks like I’m still working on it,” the “I can’t tell people how I really feel about things and I have to fake the toxic positivity of the industry” played a big role in why stepping back from freelancing just to focus on my day job caused this immense burn-out for me that I’ve just now finally come back from. Twitter has been a lifeline for a lot of people, and I don’t wanna knock it’s use that way, but the being-attacked-by-your-peers-over-clout-ass-bullshit-while-you-have-to-feign-a-sense-of-professionalism and the pace you had to work at to keep folks’ attention was holding me underwater for a bit there

Well I just realized I actually had real art I could have shown y’all from the last year instead of like, a cursed drawing that steals some of your life force painfully, sorry about the mix up

I'm sorry for taking so long to respond but this has got to be one of my all-time favorite asks ever, thank you so much
