God will see you at the lowest point of your life, and say "what the fuck I thought I killed that thing." But you skitter too fast and you are too creepy.
Huge moment as a Hellenic pagan to have both Hadestown and The Odyssey playing in movie theaters simultaneously. Like, YES, these stories and heroes and gods still connect with wide audiences in year of somebody’s lord 2026. These myths transcend time and place and culture and format and still connect with people and help people connect with deity. Haven’t seen either yet and I’m still just excited that it’s happening rn. Such a spiritual moment

I don't know how to make this not sound mean but I'm not trying to be mean, so please know that going in.
Listening to a podcast about bodies and eating disorders and the body positivity movement of the last decade ish and hearing someone say (paraphrasing from memory here) "body positivity was all capitalism, there were no legislative changes, just new brands of jeans"
Legislative changes are super important but I cannot emphasize enough that jeans coming in bigger sizes and fat-friendly cuts is actually a really big deal! With meaningful impacts on people's lives (including mine)! Fat people do need clothes! And you may not realize this, but if you're over a certain size (that's not even that big a size) there's a very good chance you can go to a big box store and *not find anything that fits you*. There are towns in the US where if you're over a size 18 you need to drive an hour away or shop online to get things in your size. And they're expensive! "Just buy used" if they even have your size! Fat people want to look nice too. And we face enough judgement during job interviews (to give one example) without trying to do it in clothes that don't fit or are super uncomfortable.
Actually: If you're fat and you want to look cute/hot/masc/femme/etc I cannot recommend this website enough, you put in your measurements and it lists what brands have your size. You can filter for stuff like sensory friendly, nonbinary, masc, organic, etc. It's not AI just a database.
Phoria is a platform to help plus-size and gender-expansive people build a more sustainable and ethical wardrobe they love. We’re a benefit
A reminder that sell-buy dates or best-used-by dates are not the same as expiration dates.
I love that a food bank is providing this info as they are experts in stretching food budgets and knowledgable in shelf-stable food items
So I followed the link to the website and found the longer list.
The website puts a link to the USDA site which links to foodsafety dot gov who really wants you to use the app, but you can bypass it.
Also a link to the Canadian government's advisory on best-before dates.
Both sites have links to pages that get more into food storage.
As it is food drive season I'd like to remind people that while food might be edible past these dates, food banks and food pantries will not use food past those dates, so please don't waste their time by donating things they will not use
i wish we were able to talk about women's rights without someone mentioning how much they do or don't want to have sex with them. i don't care if you're a lesbian Stop finding worth in women purely from their perceived attractiveness
"I think women should not be expected to shave for societal respect / to avoid discrimination" "yeah🤤 i love bush" ok well that's not what we're talking about is it.
i hate how many posts about trans women deserving respect always devolve into "I love girldick" or "trans rights but I don't want to date a trans person" because that's entirely unrelated to the topic at hand. you should not respond to feminism with "YESSS I loveeee you because I see you as nothing but a sex object" you people sound like other men I get stuck talking with that end up saying "free the nipple so I can see boobies in public" and thinking they're feminists. why can't we just respect women regardless of your attraction to them or not. why does it need to be brought up in every conversation regarding their rights
(1)Humans deserve human rights because they’re human, not because they’re fuckable.
(2) Bodily autonomy includes expressing sexuality and having/not having sex, but sexual expression is only one facet of bodily autonomy.
(3) The bodily autonomy of others and how they chose to apply that autonomy to their own bodies isn’t about you.
(4) Say this one all the time with disability shit, fatphobia/weight in general, queerness, transness, etc. especially people feeling the need to comment on other people’s bodies and/or what they’re doing with them. Other people’s bodies aren’t about you.
(5) If the debate is about someone else’s bodily autonomy, especially a group that you are not a part of, and you start to respond about you, maybe don’t?
Girl he wants to do it in a will graham way. Let him out.
Taking my daughter hunting. She’s not coming out of the closet fast enough. But I’ve got the flannel shirts, combat boots, and baseball caps ready for some outdoorsy activity. Some shotgun time with dad should speed things along
🦌 (one hunting trip later) 🦌
Well, no lesbian daughter. Turns out he was a gay son
The descent into the devastating and inescapable logic of “Why We Build the Wall” throughout the song will never not haunt me.
Why do we build the wall? We build the wall to keep us free. How does the wall keep us free? The wall keeps out the enemy. What do we call the enemy? The enemy is poverty. What do we have that they should want? We have a wall to work upon.
Like the show itself, the logic of the wall is cyclical, so it’s inescapable. The wall is literal. The wall is figurative. We create the wall ourselves when we value profit over life. And at the end of the day, after all that work, and all of that time spent disparaging the “have nots,” the only thing you have left is the very wall you are building, separating you from your fellow man.

Without fail, every time a woman is talking about how she does not want to have children and never wants to be pregnant and how medical professionals, romantic interests and family members keep trying to bulldoze her decision and keep expecting her to change her mind because motherhood is something that is expected of all women and it is abhorrent to think a woman could not desire it, a random mother spawns in the comments to be like “Well, actually, you never know! I didn’t want children and then I got pregnant and I realized I love being a mama and I have five little babies now! Could happen to you! 🥰”
Sister, keep that to yourself or make your own goddamn post, you are ignoring that woman’s central concern and belittling her, you don’t even think you’re doing it. Formerly childfree women who ended up having children and loving it are like detransitioners in the sense that there is nothing inherently wrong with changing your mind about having children or realizing you were mistaken about your gender identity but immediately weaponizing your indecision to tell people that the barriers to healthcare and the violations of their bodily autonomy and the way society ignores that person’s wishes is actually okay because you were wrong. Some people do know themselves.
