Man. I wish there were better sources on European magic between 700-1100 CE. A lot of the modern scholarship is like, interpretations of mythological epics and interpretation of archeological artifacts. But there's so much guesswork involved! It's hard to say anything concrete.

I stg 90% of "medieval" grimoires were written in like the 14th century by people who were practically early renaissance thinkers. If u want actual medieval grimoires you gotta learn Arabic.

I mean... my mother teaches a class on magic in England in the Anglo-Saxon period, mostly she sells the handouts at reenacting events so only the class handout is available online rather than the full booklet, but it has a bibliography which might be a good place to start looking for more academic sources.

There are certain privileges that come with say being in prison like you get a roof over your head and food every day. And if you are homeless you can easily die of starvation on the street roasted under the summer sun or chased and beaten to death by officers similar to the prison guards that shackle the prisoner. But would you call the prisoner privileged or tell them they’re being hyperbolic for what they’re experiencing bc it’s not homelessness? That’s what some of the conversations around privilege sound like on here sometimes it just gets really weird and misguided but whatever
