          in hindsight,  having his phone out in full view was a terrible idea with yua around—   doubly so when yua sends a little kaomoji,  to which he’s fully prepared to respond to with one of his own despite the fact that they’re sitting right next to each other.   the nickname  ‘ yuyu ‘  sits in bold letters at the top of the message,  and he pulls his phone to his chest when his friend notices.

          “  i—   well,  you—   why were you looking over my shoulder?!  “   he stammers out a weak response,  pink dusting his cheeks as he locks his phone.

There’s no response, only bubbly laughter — loud and disbelieving and endeared. It’s with a gasping breath that he throws his arms around Touma’s neck, granting him at least the small mercy of not looking at his reddening face. There’s no holding back the glee, though, not when his feet feel light and his heart feels about to burst with affection, very much like the first time that nickname had been spoken years back.  

            ‘  ...“Yuyu”? Touma, that says Yuyu!  ’

               “ oh— uh… what did you bring..? “   his lunch might be more sweets than actual food, after all.

            ‘  Hiromi, Hiromi! Let’s share lunch!  ’     Because he didn’t bring his.

                    “ i thought i explained it pretty well. “   except he hadn’t, and any further attempts at explaining only seemed to confuse the both of them more than needed.  maybe he wasn’t cut out for tutoring, but at least he had made some attempt at helping,   “ what, do you think your teacher’s an idiot?  besides, i seriously don’t think you guys are talking about ethics pertaining to hero work. “

                    “ give that back. “   it’s not a request and pretty quickly becomes irrelevant as touma reaches over to snatch his homework back.  a quick glance over it reveals it to be fine— not that he’s particularly worried— before he huffs a little and looks over to yua,   “ we’re not even in the same class, what makes you think you can copy my homework and get away with it?  y’know if you wanted help, you could just ask. “        /  @venerace
