calling out.

     a pause before he decides to take out his phone,  to unlock it and pull up what information the aquarium had out---  quietly tilting the screen toward the other,   “  they have some pictures of the fish up,  if you want to see... “

                        ‘ hm? ‘   he looks down at his own notes--- they’re more or less legible but still covered in idle scribbles and doodles, all over the margins and even in the middle of some of the words, inconsequential and unrelated to the lesson in any way.   ‘ sort of..?  it’s not... perfect, but if you want i can take pictures and send them after class. ‘

                         “ that’s--- uh, yes, it’s chocolate... “   he keeps his gaze downward toward his own food before breaking off a few pieces of chocolate, holding it out to the other,   “ you--- you didn’t answer my question, though. “

               “ oh--- uh... what did you bring..? “   his lunch might be more sweets than actual food, after all.

                         “ hama - chan, i was wondering--- “   his voice is as soft as usual, a shy tap on her shoulder to accompany as if he were afraid she wouldn’t hear him otherwise.  he tilts his head to the side slightly,   “ there’s an aquarium and i didn’t want to go alone, so--- um--- if you’d like to come with me? “     /     @watheft
