Maybe lean out
No. I know this is probably just a casual commiseration but I think it's a real and important question to ask and answer. If doing the stuff you're expected to do everyday is super hard, then something is probably wrong.
Anyone who relates to this too hard, I'd recommend looking up spoon theory and starting to make a record of how you feel and your experiences that you can bring up with some kind of health professional. Chances are if doing laundry feels like climbing everest, it's because you're disabled in some way. Whether that disability is some invisible chronic illness or depression or ADHD or burnout, *something* is wrong.
Almost all disabilities have some form of treatment or accommodation that can make your life easier. If you can get a diagnosis, you might also be eligible for official accommodations and benefits. Social security sucks ass and is almost impossible to access but like, it's not the only thing out there set up to help disabled folks and usually local organizations are gonna be better anyway.
Plenty of people reblogging this probably already know they're disabled in some way but if even 1 person sees this and can learn something important about themselves then it's worth saying.
TLDR: people who aren't disabled don't find acts of daily living extremely hard. Maybe look into that and see if you can get help making your life less hard.
Sincerely, a multiply disabled person.
This is super important okay. Like, I used to try to ask my conservative family/church/etc. for help, and they’d just be all, “suck it up; life is hard for everyone; quit being such a baby”... and then I went to, like, actual experts, and they were basically like, “um, wow, you’re clearly super depressed and suicidal; you should actually be proud of yourself for still being alive!” And I’m still trying to unlearn the former and accept the latter, even after all this time. And I’m so mad that I’ve wasted so much time just trying to “push through it” instead of getting help I clearly need(ed), and that’s still a thing I struggle with.
Please, please seek real help if you need it. Like, I understand that there are shitty doctors and shitty therapists and whatnot, but it’s so worth expending what effort you can to find good ones who can help. If you have mentally ill friends -- which, if you’re reading this in the first place, you almost certainly do -- they might be able to point you in the right direction.
[ID: a screenshot from the Too Afraid to Ask reddit that reads: "How do people just so stuff? Is life not incredibly hard for everyone?" /end ID]
I have a friend with insane ADD and we have this same conversation sometimes
She can't actually even define laziness (which is weird) but she thought she was just lazy, life was that hard for everyone, and that everyone else was just being more responsible at managing it. I told her laziness feels good once and she blue screened.
Like if you can't define laziness, you've probably been convinced it's something that it's not. Probably something nebulous and hard to describe. Like, idk, an unknown disorder.
In case you're one such person, laziness feels great. It's not stressful. It's like the opposite of stressful. If you're being stressed and lazy at the same time you've managed to do it wrong somehow. The only struggle in being lazy is wanting the tv remote and being to darn comfortable to want to move. (But you get it anyways, because it's not an inability to get the remote. You were just cozy.)
Think of it like a cat sitting near a warm heater or a hamster so relaxed it "melts". If there were danger, or if the animal were hungry, it would get up. It probably doesn't want to get up because it's comfortable but it will. If the hamster is actually genuinely hungry but it can't get up and it's just laying there stressed and starving, you would take your animal to the vet because it has a problem.
That’s how it was for me growing up, too. I seriously thought everyone was constantly exhausted, confused, and in pain like I was and I was just really, really bad at dealing with it, didn’t want to try hard enough, and was just lazy.
Additional gentle reminder that the regular amount of unidentifiable/unexpected pain is none. The normal amount of unidentifiable/unexpected pain is none.
Sore the next day after a workout? Makes sense.
Sore for the next week after a workout? Not normal.
Barked your shin on a low coffee table and have an ache/bruise? Expected.
Gently brushed past the doorframe and your arm feels like it's on fire? Not normal.
Joint pain in your teens/20's is not normal. Heart problems in your teens/20's are not normal. Continual (AKA chronic!) fatigue despite diet/sleep schedule is not normal.
If you cannot point to an event or series of events that caused the discomfort/pain you are experiencing ("I fell off my bike", "I walked 3 miles", "I slept poorly", "I haven't been getting all the nutrients I need"), it's probably not normal! And it is okay to want that discomfort/pain to stop, even if it's mild! Most people are not going through their daily lives consistently uncomfortable or in pain.
Most people are not going through their daily lives uncomfortable or in pain.
You deserve to be comfortable and to have things be easy. Whether that looks like readjusting your life and expectations or getting professional help (medical/mental/other), you deserve it. I promise.

who are your favorite dragons
definitive and ontologically correct dragon ranking:
28. Vermithor- as with any list about the Targaryens, anything related to Jaehaerys goes last. I hate him. I hate that this dragon is misogynistic.
27. Meraxes- LOSERRRRRR GET DORNE’D
26. Taraxes- literally who.
25. Arrax- I kind of have nothing to say except for that I guess feeding Vhagar counts as doing something useful for the community
24. Morning- pink. 💖🌸🏳️⚧️🌷🩰If fire and blood were good, we would have some really awesome commentary on how the last dragon left is seen as purely ornamental and pretty and abstractly symbolic like how women and girls are in feudal society, especially after the dance like look at daenaera. But no.
23. Grey Ghost- hardly knew you but you were shy and wild.
22. Meleys- this one loses points with me because I always spell it wrong. I always think it’s Maelys and have been pronouncing it French. She also did dragon 9/11 on the show which was from a narrative perspective kind of stupid and you know, from an ethical perspective, never forget.
21. Shrykos- killed during the revolution. historically progressive death
20. Quicksilver- good name for a dragon. It’s a shame someone crashed this sports car into a lake.
19. Syrax- kind of a nothingburger I fear. Rhaenyra needed a cooler dragon Syrax doesn’t look super cute or do a lot.
18. Stormcloud- poor little guy
17. Viserion- I like that he has the personality of a baby more than the other two it’s cute
16. Drogon- prototypical dragon, even if he has a stupid name. Mommy’s favorite child.
15. Rhaegal- it wasn’t nice when he killed Quentyn but I understand him.
14. Morghul- theeee concept of a toddler girl being like my dragon is named death god :) is precious to me. I wish Jaehaera had lived.
13. Seasmoke- gay and boring. like me
12. Vermax- it was really upsetting when he slowly drowned on my television :(
11. Silverwing- i’m not gonna lie I kind of forgot she survived the Dance. I really hope that she left some eggs in the nightfort for someone to find at a pivotal moment. I think that would be awesome. And I really like Ulf right now. Maybe she will fly him to get an ale with the lads.
10. Moondancer- only real mission being a 16-year-old girl escaping being grounded and immediately deciding to become a suicide bomber is commendable.
9. Tessarion- pretty blue dragon. a southern belle.
8. The Last Dragon- tragic and poetic and born wrong.
7. The Cannibal- I like that this one’s just the symbolism dragon running around and I also really like that no one ever claimed her but she DID come up to salute Corlys Velaryon at his funeral.
6. Dreamfyre- Most useful as an uber to various lesbian hookups which was really important of her to do.
5. Balerion- kind of a nothingburger when he was Aegon’s, but an everything bagel as Maegor, Aerea, and Viserys’ dragon. Unknowable force of destruction that longs to return to a home he can never see again
4. Sunfyre- sparkly and gold AND a real cockroach of a lizard he REFUSES to die EVER Sunfyre PRETTY Sunfyre YOUNGER AND MORE BEAUTIFUL Sunfyre UNBEATABLE
3. Sheepstealer- I am endeared. Was legit upset when all the purebred private school dragons ganged up on her on house of the dragon
2. Vhagar- MAMA
1. Caraxes- I love his noodly body and fucked up song because he has a deviated septum that makes the other dragons not like him. What has Caraxes beat out Vhagar for me is that in Fire and Blood she transitions for the battle of the God’s Eye they hard switch to she/her pronouns with zero explanation and it is so epic.

Earlier today I saw a reel which said 'In a world full of Jon Snow, be Daemon Targaryen' and I'm still recovering from having to read those words with my own two eyes
These two year gaps between seasons are hard because I feel like people genuinely have forgotten that time that he killed his wife with a rock so that he could crash his teenage niece who he groomed for the better part of two decades’ wedding kind of on ethnic supremacist grounds

as a Canadian would you say the amount of white people around you is tiring
See I don't really know what answer you want from me because it feels like my options are
1. "say yes as a defensive over-correction, speaking of white people in the third person in order to distance myself from the discomfort of knowing I am part of a group which benefits from the systematic oppression of other races while continuing to benefit regardless, effectively changing nothing while obsolving myself of whatever shame might actually motivate me to address those same systematic issues, in a way that really does feel like the racial inequality equivalent to that 'what's up fellow kids' meme"
or
2. "say no and come off as though I am declining to acknowledge the impact of racialization on those affected by European imperialism who are forced outside of the imaginary box labeled 'default average human', who we have constructed in the public consciousness to reflect a thin, neurological, able-bodied straight cis caucasian man, who is overwhelmingly the dominant form of representation in basically all media in this country"
but the truth is that being a part of a majority population that reflects the ruling class is very, very easy and very, very comfortable, so much so that it really isn't something you conciously notice until you start paying attention, and once you DO start paying attention you realize it is also very, very weird, in a way that you want to address but at the same time must be careful not to speak on too loudly, at the risk of talking over those who actually have the experience to comment on it themselves in a meaningful way and instead positioning yourself- AGAIN- in an unearned seat of authority, this time twice as patronizing and with the added smokescreen of the 'white savior' image that mostly just exists to make yourself feel better, like getting on a plane to take photos with starving orphans in Africa and then coming home to vote against building a new soup kitchen on the downtown east side
So to answer your question: yes, and also no, and also pass, and also I'm probably not the person to be speaking on this, why are you asking ME

RIP Loustat, You Were Bigger Than the Sky 💔😭
The way The Vampire Lestat has completely destroyed my interest in Loustat needs to be studied. I was a Loustat girlie first and foremost. I genuinely used to think that Loustat chemistry could get me through anything, any amount of nonsense the writers threw at them and at us. But boy was I wrong! I watched an episode centered on them and felt absolutely nothing. No butterflies. No smiling like an idiot. No excitement. Nothing.
How am I supposed to feel invested in Loustat when Lestat is calling Louis a whore for no good reason, a "cancerous jackal" for no good reason. He has the audacity to reduce Louis's anger over being beaten nearly to death and dropped 5,000 feet from the sky to nothing more than "redirected moods."This undermines his season 2 apology. I already had issues with that apology because of the context surrounding it. Still, I could at least point to it and say, okay, he's acknowledging what he did. He's taking accountability. After all, Lestat admitted that he broke Louis because he couldn't force him to love him. But how am I supposed to take that remorse seriously now when he's minimizing the grotesque harm he once acknowledged causing?
It does make me wonder: does Lestat even like Louis, let alone love him? Who is to say he isn't mistaking obsession for love? The narrative can insist that Lestat loves Louis all it wants, but at some point, we need proof. We need to see it in his actions. So what exactly am I supposed to point to as evidence of this supposedly great love? Am I supposed to see the fact that Lestat showed up for Louis despite being angry with him as evidence of his deep, unwavering love? Especially when the narrative frames it against Louis not checking on him after he was shot? Mind you, Lestat "I have the blood of Akasha in me" de Lioncourt was never in any real danger of dying from a gunshot. When his life was actually at risk, Louis showed up.
Because that's the problem. The show is asking me to treat these few and far-between moments as proof of Lestat's deep and unwavering love for Louis. But the rest of the time, what we're given is a Lestat who seems far more interested in possessing Louis than loving him. He wants Louis's love, devotion, attention, and availability. He wants Louis to be sexually, emotionally, and physically available whenever he needs him. And when Louis gives him what he wants, Lestat is affectionate. When Louis doesn't, suddenly he's a whore.
Now, you can tell me he was acting like that because he was still angry and hurt over the book. Fine. Let's look at what happens when Louis and Lestat are supposedly in a good place and he's no longer angry.
He gets irritated at the insinuation that he killed Claudia, which is true, by the way. He played an active role in Claudia's lynching and murder. He gets dismissive when Louis brings up his affair with Antoinette, suggesting that Louis mischaracterized her in the book.
Then we get his reckoning. This is supposed to be Lestat's big character growth moment.
And what does Lestat's subconscious have to say about Louis?
Lestat is now fixated on Louis having been a pimp. When we finally get a glimpse into how he sees their relationship, we're told that he offered the Dark Gift to a pimp, someone he apparently viewed as undeserving because of his profession. And what did he get in return? The pimp made his life miserable, baby-trapped him, slit his throat, and then fucked his ex. What's jarring is how much this framing glosses over the details that actually matter. The implication is essentially: I gave this man everything, and look how he repaid me.
The narrative is framing it as though Lestat's great tragedy is that he loved Louis too much, too deeply, too selflessly, and was punished for it. And despite all of Louis's faults, in all his benevolence, he remained steadfast in his love for him. What makes this so baffling is that Lestat genuinely seems to believe he loves Louis the way Louis needs to be loved, even as he frames Louis as someone undeserving of that love in the first place. He doesn't see himself as the perpetrator. He sees himself as the wronged party in the relationship. Meanwhile, Louis is the one who was beaten nearly to death, dropped from the sky, cheated on, manipulated, isolated, lynched, and forced to live with the loss of Claudia, a tragedy Lestat played an active role in.
What kind of DARVO nonsense is this? Because this framing sounds suspiciously similar to the way Santiago characterized Louis and Lestat's relationship during the "trial". The selfless lover who gave everything. The ungrateful partner who repaid that love with betrayal and cruelty. By the end of it, I was left wondering whether the writers intended for Santiago's interpretation of their relationship to carry more truth than I initially thought. In retrospect, Rolin's insistence that Lestat not apologize during the NOLA reconciliation, despite Jacob and Sam's objections that he should, makes a lot more sense. In fact, it made me realize that the seeds of Loustat's downfall were planted in that very scene. On paper, it was supposed to be a reconciliation. But in practice, the narrative framed Louis as the one who needed to make amends, the one who needed to express gratitude, the one who needed to reassure Lestat. Looking back, that should have been my first warning sign.
The thing about Loustat in past seasons was that, yes, Lestat was abusive, but I also believed that he loved Louis deeply. The appeal of their relationship, for me, was that the story allowed love and abuse to coexist in a way that could be explored safely through fiction. It allowed me to engage with dynamics that would be unacceptable in real life. Even at his cruelest, I believed Lestat's actions came from a place of love, however warped, selfish, and destructive that love might have been. Even after he dropped Louis from the sky, I struggled with it a bit, but I eventually came around. I felt the relationship had become more complicated, more tragic, and more interesting. The abuse didn't erase the love; it made the contradictions within their relationship more complex. That's why I was still invested.
Had the story followed that up with genuine accountability, had Lestat taken responsibility for what he did and sincerely apologized, with the narrative fully supporting that reckoning, it could have been incredible. We could have watched Lestat reckoning with what happened to Claudia and the role he played in her death. We could have watched Louis wrestle with the impossible contradiction of loving Lestat while knowing the part he played in Claudia's murder. We could have watched them mourn Claudia together and slowly find their way back to each other. Maybe even the séance scene could have been part of that, with Louis and Lestat working together to help Claudia finally find peace. That would have been compelling. That would have felt earned.
Instead of putting in the work, the writers resorted to abuse apologia and victim-blaming. They centered Lestat's trauma throughout the season while avoiding any meaningful accountability for his actions. Meanwhile, they increasingly nudged the audience toward viewing Louis (and Claudia) as the source of the conflict in the relationship, a pattern I only now realize began in the season 2 finale.
All I needed was for the narrative to acknowledge the reality of what he did and allow him to grapple with it honestly. Yet very rarely did the narrative ask him to truly confront the damage he caused. The writers keep telling us that Loustat is the heart of the show, and yet they have given me very little reason to believe it.
At this point, I'm not even angry about Loustat anymore. I'm just tired. I was willing to forgive a lot as long as I believed there was genuine love between them. That was always the appeal of Loustat for me. The idea that love and abuse could coexist in a way that was tragic, messy, compelling, and impossible to justify in real life, but fascinating to explore in fiction. The problem is that I don't buy it anymore. I no longer believe in the love story the show keeps insisting is there. And once that belief is gone, all that's left is nothing.

Hello friends we need to talk about this twitter account:
You might know him from a thread where he was getting wowed by free appetisers in a Mexican restaurant.
Firstly: He is doing a bit pretending to be a wandering samurai. It's a joke and his posts are all made up. This is very obvious if you actually look at his account and website:
He does purport to be Japanese but based on some of the other content he posts there's reason to believe he's British.
Which brings me to my second point: his Samurai content is interspersed with posts like this:
And this:
He is not cute or funny. Stop platforming him.
The chips and salsa thread went viral in June and his website seems to have gone live in July. This confirms what I suspected which is that said website with it's explicit disclaimers was made in response to the big viral hit.
Consequently, back when he first blew up it was potentially a bit harder to figure out that his stories are fictional. That said, the New York Times worked it out so I'm comfortable accusing outlets who ran the story describing him as a Japanese world cup tourist of legitimately terrible journalism.
I cant go to my local libary anymore because last year when I stopped by a librarian was reading a book I wrote under a pen name years ago. This book sold under 10k copies and I've literally only heard people talk about this book online *if* I went looking for it so I went up to them and tried to start a conversation like "oh hey I've heard of that book is it good?" Like hoping for some real feedback and she goes "yeah I love reading things by queer writers" and in a moment of terror I was like "oh but- hold on, I thought the author was some old hetero white guy?!" A thing I thought because I used my own dead grandpa's picture for the author pic because grandpa never had internet. I fake looked it up and was like "yeah if he was queer its not public?" And without looking up this absolute unit goes "oh the author bio is obviously fake. I'd bet my left leg the author is a west coast millennial non-binary queer who has never lived on the east coast." And then proceeded to rattle off a dozen linguistic flourishes that are specfic to the pacific northwest that are in the book and several that are nearly ubiquitous in the state where I said my pen name lives that are somehow completely absent from the book.
So you know. Got read for fifth and didn't even find out if she liked it.
