He smirked—small, brief, the first warmth she had seen in him all evening, not the warmth he usually offered her but warmer than the careful distance he had maintained since she walked through the study door, as though she had managed to bridge some narrow fraction of the chasm she had created.

"I cannot claim to be entirely unfamiliar with the feeling," he added, and she understood what it cost him to admit it. "But what I fail to grasp—what I genuinely cannot reconcile—is why you would lie to me about it. Why would you not trust me enough to share this with me?"

Celeste sighed. "I love you. You are an Archmage. A Professor at the Blackstaff Academy. You take lunch with the Blackstaff herself and dinner with the social echelon of Waterdeep—"

"As do you."

"As your wife, yes. The woman beside you." She turned the glass slowly. "When we came to Waterdeep, I had nothing to my name but a heritage I didn't want. No past, no identity, no memories I could reliably trust. Not even a last name—you gave me yours."

For a brief moment, a smile crossed his face, and Celeste considered carefully how much truth he would be able to stomach, and how quickly.

"Do you remember," she asked, her voice dropping, watching the firelight catch in the rum's dark surface, "the first night I played the Yawning Portal?"

"I do."

"We had wandered a great deal in those weeks, you had shown me the city, your favorite spots, the restaurants, the bakeries and vendors you love—"

"I remember," Gale stated, harder than before, and she heard what lay beneath it: that it was a good memory, a fond one, and that revisiting it tonight was complicated.

"I noticed we were being followed. We were both slightly drunk, just enough for me to be entertaining when I performed, and you hadn't noticed. I was absolutely certain, but you were enjoying yourself so thoroughly that when I asked whether you had noticed anything—"

"I declined!" Gale sat forward abruptly, the memory surfacing with enough force to animate him despite himself. "We were on our way home, finding—" He took a breath and fought back a smirk with visible effort. "Indulging in alleyways. You asked if I had noticed something, and I declined."

Celeste managed a small smile, glad he was willing to go there with her, even now. "Yes. You declined. And I tried to let it go, and we had other things on our minds that night. But I could not shake the feeling. So when you left for the Academy the next morning, I followed, at a distance. It was just a feeling that something might be wrong."

"And you concluded I was incapable of handling it?" The warmth the memory had briefly restored evaporated instantly, replaced by sharp offense. "I was Mystra's Chosen, Celeste. I have—"

"I am aware, Gale," she said gently. "I did not think you would be attacked in broad daylight and be unable to defend yourself. I was concerned. This was a new city, and I did not yet know its patterns." She sighed. "I would have done it differently, with hindsight. But it was not distrust. It was—if I am being completely honest—also thrilling. I admit that freely. It was thrilling to follow a thread and see where it led."

Gale sighed with the resignation of a man defeated by a truth he recognized in himself. "Though I do not particularly enjoy admitting it... I am familiar with the feeling."

Celeste nodded, drank, then offered a small smile. His eyes softened, fractionally.

"And? Had I been followed?"

Serving Up: 496 words from the draft of Chapter 19 of my fanfiction Stealing Moonlight

Astarion swept from the sunroom with far less grace than before, the heels of his boots striking sharply against the marble floors as he tore through the adjoining corridor. The servants lingering there scattered almost immediately upon his approach, pressing themselves hurriedly against the walls while he stormed past them without so much as an acknowledging glance in their direction. Every damned hallway was drenched with her scent. Rosehip oils that clung stubbornly to the carved banisters beneath his fingertips. Lemongrass drifting through the stale palace air in maddening little waves that made it feel as though she lingered just beyond the next doorway. Just beyond the next staircase. Just beyond his reach. Always almost. Never there. Only her scent lingering like a taunt. His palace had become infested with her. She coated every surface. Every corridor. Every stretch of marble beneath his feet. He could practically feel the phantom warmth of her skin still lingering against velvet curtains and silk sheets alike. Could almost hear the soft padding of her bare feet as it disappeared down distant hallways whenever he slowed long enough to listen for it. And it was beginning to drive him mad. Astarion descended another staircase with quick, vicious strides, shoving one of his spawn aside when the man failed to move from his path quickly enough. The poor thing stumbled sharply against the wall, clearly startled by his violence, but it was as if the Vampire Ascendant scarcely even noticed. Where was she? His senses stretched desperately through the palace around him, searching for the quick rhythm of her heartbeat amongst his still living staff. Every time he’d thought he caught it, it would vanish again beneath the weight of his servants and mortal guests drifting throughout the manor below. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Godsdamnit. The frustration clawed steadily sharper through him with every passing second that she wasn’t in his grasp. And then, all at once, a far uglier thought began to unfurl in his mind. What if she was gone? The thought struck him so suddenly that his steps faltered outright. Gone?! No. Surely not. Not his Rhia. Not his darling little love. But the more rooms he tore through without finding her, the more poisonous that possibility became. What if she had finally come to her senses? What if she had finally remembered exactly what kind of monster he was and slipped away when his attention had been occupied elsewhere? Vanished from his palace like water through open fingers while he sat wasting precious hours entertaining godsdamned nobles and shit-stinking merchants below? He laughed, and the sound of it echoing off of the walls of the empty corridor was not a pleasant thing. It was short. Humorless. The kind of sarcastic laugh one released when they realized their plan had failed. Of course she had left him. Of course she did. The thought turned bitter almost instantly, his jaw locked so hard the ache of it radiated up through his skull.

What’s an idea, dynamic, or trope in your current work that feels naughty or self-indulgent? (Spicy answers 100% encouraged)

The most suggestive and naughtiest things about Suna have sadly not been posted nor shared yet, because I’m still working hard to figure out a few more things about her past, while the things I’ve shared until now are mostly angst-centered (self-indulgence at maximum levels there).

Yes, I must confess I’m first of all a huge angst enthusiast and I tend to lean towards hurt/comfort, star-crossed lovers, nightmare comfort, anguished declarations of love, unrequited love, amnesia, tragic soulmates and major trauma A WHOLE LOT, but angst leading to smut (and, in general, emotional distress leading to intense romantic/sexual tension) is one of my favorite tropes ever, and my future plans for my OC contemplate tons of that (especially the short thing I’m working on right now about Suna and Orin and their toxic sisters/relatives dynamic, where I also want to explore the path that led to Suna’s fall as a Bhaalspawn. Spoiler: it has A LOT to do with Gort, obviously).

And what about the naughty side, you might ask? Well, first of all there are a few mentions of breath play in the most recent things I wrote/shared. It’s not exactly a self-indulgent detail, but in my OC headcanons, Suna enjoys that kind of things, and she enjoys it A LOT (Suna and her tyrant loved to indulge in choking each other in bed quite often before her tadpoling, and if there’s a thing Orin’s lobotomy has not been fully able to erase from her naughty brain is exactly that, even if her post-tadpole version prefers something milder. Gale’s influence, I suppose…). Anyway, from my OC’s point of view such obsession is not just a mere kink, but also something that has a lot to do with trust, one of the feelings Suna struggles with the most.

Last but not least, I’m kinda obsessed with the whole Suna-Gort-Gale dynamic. In my intentions there’s never been the idea of making this a three-way thing, but since most of my OC's past trauma is processed through her dreams/nightmares (at least in my longer fic), I thought it might be nice to at least hint at some kind of strange overlap between her two lovers often happening when she’s, emotionally speaking, at her weakest.

Is your OC a virgin, blushing maiden, or sexual fiend? Or aro/ace? Or something in between?

Bhaalspawn Suna is more on the fiend side, definitely not an aro/ace, and certainly NOT a virgin nor a blushing maiden. She’s under the greatest pressure because of her role, and Bhaal’s oppressive presence weighs heavily on her shoulders, so sex becomes her first and often only source or recreation and favorite pastime. She collects lovers like a philatelist collects stamps and tends to view them more as trophies or objects than people. Most of the time she likes to pick the ones she wants to spend time with among acolytes, and after the deed is done, she gets rid of them and offers them to Father, before moving on to the next conquest (though she sometimes collects relics of them, if they have been especially remarkable). She NEVER sees them as her equals (Gort will be her first and ONLY exception while she’s still under Bhaal’s influence) and mostly uses her lovers to validate her ego.

Post-tadpole/amnesiac Suna is something else entirely, instead. With most of her memories gone, also a lot of her previous traits vanish (but her experience does not, obviously :D). The main difference is that instead of trying to avoid real emotional intimacy, she slowly learns how to embrace it, and emotional connections become her main focus before starting any kind of intimate relationship. Depending on how her story develops (in canon she settles down in Waterdeep with Gale, while in fic things are going to be much more complicated because of Gort’s huge involvement), there might be a few little differences, but her most peculiar traits will never change: she might be a little more “tamer” than her previous Bhaalspawn self, but she’s never going to be a “vanilla” kind of woman, she won’t stop being an enthusiastic and dedicated sex enjoyer who loves to experiment and to explore new things, and her propension for marking her lovers (love bites, mostly) here and there will probably never change (and that will probably earn her a “stop biting the damn thing” line from Gale more than a few times in canon, while in fics Gort will probably end up sporting more than a few bruises and teeth marks in public nearly every day, obviously with very ill-concealed pride).

What’s your OC’s “I shouldn’t be this turned on by this” trigger?

Once again, it mostly depends on which version on Suna you pick: Bhaalspawn Suna is obviously turned on by anything involving blood and gore mostly, but the girl has also a huge authority kink going on, and despite struggling under Bhaal’s influence she cannot resist people in power and authority figures in general. She kinda hates them, but at the same time she’s deeply fascinated by them (and maybe she secretly wants only to get close enough to earn their trust, then get rid of them and take their place). Okay, the girl has a huge problem with authority in general, and maybe she could use a good therapist.

Also, for some reason she can’t resist the allure of hairy chests (no further explanations needed here) and masked men (so you can imagine her reaction when she sees Gort wearing his banite mask, hehe).

Once free from Bhaal’s influence though, her turn-ons also change: composure, self-mastery and competence become the things she values the most.

What is your OC’s hard NO?

Anything non-con is out of question, plus any kind of bathroom-related kink is a huge NO for her.

What is the most debauched VP/Art you have ever created?

I made a few nsfw drawings (traditional art only) a few years ago for different fandoms (SW and SWTOR) and shared most of them on a Discord server. Those pics are probably still out there somewhere, but it’s been years since I last saw them going around. I rarely do VP and I would never dare to call my pics (with PS5 photo mode) “artistic VP” honestly, but I have some talented moots who can do miracles at VP, and gifted me with some nice and sexy pics of my OC making out with Gort/Gale. God bless my moots!

What is the wildest NSFW smut you have ever thought up? Did you write it?

This might surprise a few people, but in the beginning (and in a couple of totally different fandoms) I used to write exclusively smut/wild NSFW things for friends, and most of them were short things about canon characters x OC or x self-inserts. I had a lot of fun with them, at least until I discovered the wondrous world of angst and that became my main focus, but back then, most of my fandom activity was heavily centered around kinky content of any sort (basically anything, except probably wax play, watersports and bathroom kinks) and I loved writing tons of very-much-self-indulgent bullshit (even if the characters usually had the emotional depth of a brick 😆). Feeling a lil nostalgic rn…

Do you have any crazy projects for the future?

Not sure if any of my future plans/projects might be considered “crazy”, but I DO indeed have plans, and a bunch of ideas about my OC I’d love to explore in the foreseeable future (mostly through one-shots or tiny things of no more than two chapters, because longer fics can be really exhausting sometimes). Writing angst is something I enjoy maybe a little too much, so most of those things will be heavily angst-oriented, but I’m not a monster who only enjoys torturing blorbos, so I’m also planning a few “lighter” things involving my OC and her backstory. And yes, more than one of those things might end up including a nice amount of smut (as a treat :3).

I've been trying to write less hardcore kink stuff, and have found that trying to write soft moments makes me blush harder than any of the steamy smut.

Jysmeth is a total slut, anything and anyone could get into his pants with just a few words. Taishyr will never make the first move, but will rarely refuse if someone they already care about is showing interest.

Jysmeth gets raped a lot, and he knows he shouldn't like it as much as he does. Part of his enjoyment comes from the succubus magic he inherited, and the other part is him just being a kinky freak.

Jysmeth won't initiate anything with his family members, but he also will not stop them if they approach him- this lead to a very interesting conversation with Great Grand Uncle Haartlep, because neither of them can dom.

Bernadette has been with 23 people by the age of 34...24 with the inclusion of Caz. She's kind of a fiend but only after growing to trust someone, then she gets weird and freaky. Cazador...has been with 3 people, each a one-night stand...in 467 years. 4 with the inclusion of Bernadette.

3. What’s your OC’s “I shouldn’t be this turned on by this” trigger? Bernadette being pulled down a surface and gripped onto. Watching someone lose their humanity in her presence. Being talked to in different tongues.

I don't care if it is a crack-fic or not. Bring it into existence! I'm usually a body horror writer outside of TCoS. But I have always wanted to write some cannibalistic smut. (Thanks Hannibal) Especially if the one being eaten or carved has regeneration abilities and can't die. I have written Velcaz Mpreg Drider porn for a gift exchange. :D

7. Do you have any crazy projects for the future?

@cherry4ecstasy and myself talked about making an AU with our ocs dominating Cazador. Another friend and I talked about writing a self-cest Cazador fic. I'm working on a side project for a friend Astarion/ transmasc Dhampir. And I had this eureka moment that I need to write a Karlach/Cazador fic. Because they are diagonal parallels. (I think they could fix each other.)

“A Nether Scroll?” Mystra’s voice is but a breath, her eyes wide. She snatches the tome from Gale’s hands and paces as she turns the pages. “Gale, you cannot give this information to the Unit. If this is indeed one of the lost Nether Scrolls it must remain buried, far from the eyes of mortals.”

“But according to Niri it is already being sought. The thief who stole this book was a Zhent. Surely this scroll is better off locked in Candlekeep than in the hands of the Zhentarim.”

Mystra shakes her head silently, her mouth set in a thin line. “It cannot be brought to light.”

Gale pauses, his mind racing. He cannot keep this information from Niri. Neither his good conscience nor his pride will allow it. There must be a way for him to both aid the Unit and do as his goddess commands.

Chapter 12: Evereska

Evereska

The railing of the marble banister is perfectly smooth and cool beneath her palm. The soothing glow of the Blue-leaf trees wanes as the morning approaches. Eliwyn breathes in deep. The air around her carries fresh mountain air and delicate floral notes.

She’s properly clean and generously fed and she even managed to sort out her thoughts in the longest trance she’s had in several years.

Well.

Mostly, her thoughts are sorted.

The fact that entire months have passed on this plane since she crossed into the Feywild still has her boggled. It felt like only a few days had passed, yet Arnadareath informed them upon their arrival that it is now almost halfway through Nightal.

Kelwin, however, is further elated to know for certain that it had not truly been years that he was trapped in the hag’s lair. He said it feels as though decades have been handed back to him. He says this gift of time is yet another blessing from Lathander.

To indulge myself today, I'm returning to an earlier chapter of To Err Divine for some VP, then stick around below the fold for the some disappointingly tame NSFW question game answers (credit to @thesanguinesonnet for these)

In Chapter 13, The Camp, Gale and Wren meet Halsin. He is immediately very into Wren. She interprets this as standard wood elf behavior, Gale interprets it differently. The truth is probably somewhere in between.

Chapter 13: The Camp

Halsin stepped closer to Wren. Very close. He took her hand in his. The contact was warm, firm, and confident. She resisted the urge to jerk her hand away. He is a wood elf, she reminded herself, be patient with him.

"Wren," he said. "If I were your parent, I would have named you Sparrowhawk. Your beauty is only enhanced by your ferocity." He smiled warmly at her. "But forgive me, you spoke of the Grove. I am aware of the danger. I foolishly left it vulnerable to this rabble."

Through the tadpole connection, Wren felt something sharp and uncomfortable spike from Gale's direction. She glanced at him and noticed him looking at Halsin, his fingers drumming rapidly against his robes.

"You say you've been infected?" Halsin continued, examining both Wren and Gale's faces. "But something's different. You're aware of the monster inside you. You don't bow to the Absolute, like the True Souls do. How is this possible?"

Gale took a half-step closer to Wren, close enough that his shoulder nearly touched hers. "We don't know," he replied, his voice more clipped than usual. "The tadpoles were implanted aboard a nautiloid that crashed into the Chionthar. We should have transformed by now, but we haven't. We're hoping you might have some insight into why." Gale’s foot tapped a rapid rhythm on the stone floor. "Time is rather of the essence, I'm afraid. For the Grove's sake as much as our own."

"I see," said Halsin, and his gaze took in Gale with the same warmth that he showed Wren.. "Be that as it may, the only way to restore the natural order is to eliminate this goblin threat. Help me kill the leaders of this horde. Save my Grove, then I will help you."

Wren gently removed her hand from the druid's and considered his words. Something seemed to ease in the connection between her and Gale as well. He was always agitated after a fight, perhaps it was just that.

[Chapter 13: The Camp]

All right, here we go, let's play ... I'm not a real smutty writer so this is gonna be pretty vanilla, lol.

1. What’s an idea, dynamic, or trope in your current work that feels naughty or self-indulgent? (Spicy answers 100% encouraged.)

In To Err Divine, I think my most self-indulgent moment was in Act 1 when I got impatient with my two main characters being forcibly kept from getting together by the orb, so I shamelessly did the sex pollen trope to smoosh them together early (with disastrous results). It's secretly my favorite chapter and I won't apologize for that. I also think my version of Gale's Act 2 romance scene is necessarily self-indulgent. It was OTT in the game, so I had to make it very OTT in writing as well.

My side fic, Further Research Required, is just complete self-indulgence although not really naughty - not yet, at least. I just wanted to write stories about my favorite couple again, so I am.

2. Is your oc a virgin, blushing maiden, or sexual fiend? or aro/ace? or something in between?

Wren: Is none of those. Before meeting Gale, sex is just a pastime for her on her downtime from missions. She finds a stranger, picks them up, has some fun, then bounces. It's something that makes life a little easier to bear and fulfills a need. With Gale, sex is intimate for the first time and it's kind of a new discovery for her.

Alyss: Alyss is also not quite any of those. She was orphaned at 15 and trying to survive on her own from then. You can connect the dots as to what that was like and the kind of things that happened to her. Early on, sex became something for her to trade, because it was better than the alternative. As a bard, she has many lovers, but no loves. She gives people what they want, either in exchange for something she needs, or just as a gift to them if she feels like it. Meeting Gale, she has to learn how to just be herself in a relationship. She has to learn how to understand what she wants, and not just perform what the other person wants.

3. What’s your OC’s “I shouldn’t be this turned on by this” trigger?

Wren: Gale's stupid dad jokes.

Alyss: Gale giving a lecture or expounding on one of his special interests.

4. What is your OC's hard NO?

Wren: High elves, she doesn't do high elves.

Alyss: Alyss has a boilerplate clause drawn up for this, I won't bore you with her legalese, but anything involving bodily fluids or certain types of roleplay is off the table.

5. What is the most debauched VP/Art you have ever created?

I haven't really done any debauched VP or art for fandom, but I do have some screenshots of Gale multiplying himself ... just for my records. And I have a file called "oop!" with any spicy shots I may have done while trying out poses. Oh, and there's this one:

6. What is the wildest NSFW smut you have ever thought up? Did you write it?

I am sure I have thought up some pretty wild smut in the depths of my own mind but anything I have actually written is part of a story and more connected into the emotional arc of what's going on. I don't really do super smutty, my spice is all very softcore for the most part.

I have some secret Alyss and Gale smut that was a test run for including spicy scenes in To Err Divine, where they play around with dominance and control. Never-written smut that I can recall includes an Astarion scenario where he takes control of his relationship to sex with Durge using some light bondage and a mage hand, and a very toxic Gale smut where he uses a mortal partner as an outlet for his Mystra feelings.

7. Do you have any crazy projects for the future?

I am forcing myself to stay on track and keep plugging away at the projects I do have in flight already, but I do have an "ideas" file where I just outline ideas I have and add to them as I think of it so that when I free up space, I have ideas to pick up. This includes a pre-canon fic, a modern AU, and an Alyss and Gale story where they have to help Astarion and we can get into Gale and Astarion's messy relationship. I'd also like to write some BG3 stuff that's not about Gale.

I'd love to delve into Rolan, and I think I could also get really deep into Shadowheart if I could ever look away from Gale. There's probably also a really sweet Wyll story lurking inside me somewhere.

Once I'm done with the current event I'm taking part in, I'll be on the lookout for others too. I'm into the idea of doing more fic exchanges, prompt events, etc!
