we all know that astarion has the curse of being the evil-aligned/anti-hero archetype and the fandom treating him like some delicate innocent. that’s just something that happens in fandom spaces. it’s been happening for years. there’s nothing we can do. yes i know i get it.
but what really gets under my skin more than the deliberate mischaracterization of such an intricate and cool character is the fact that sometimes the community literally sacrifices his sense of humor. which astounds me because his sense of humor is what initially made players invested in who he was as a character!
he always has something funny to say— even if it’s only funny to him. he laughs at his own jokes and he gets defensive and butthurt if you make jokes at his expense. he is a hypocrite. he is hilarious.
less of him being like this tradhusband/untouchable figurehead of goodness and more of him being flawed and funny. cancel me idgaf i love canon astarion.

Redraw of the original painting ''Le retour du fils prodigue'' (The Return of the Prodigal Son) by Michel Martin Drölling, which i saw in a museum a little while ago, and one of my first thought while looking at it was that it would make a nice piece for Bhaal and Maeth ahah, sooo here it is 🫶🏻
It was also quite a challenge for me to draw and render all these fabrics and Maeth's hair, but i'm pretty happy with how it turned out in the end aaaaa
Celebrate the Ides of March by murdering BG3's hubristic but doe-eyed wizard in the very first ever Dead Gale Week.
Open to any or no pairings, the only requirement is that your fanfic or fanart kills Gale Dekarios. The worse you treat him, the better.
Two Rules:
Gale must die.
Don't use AI.
Q&A:
Who's running this thing?
Direct your complaints to patheticfangirl.
Do you hate Gale?
Not at all. If I hated Gale, I wouldn't have written 75 fics about him (and counting). We always hurt the blorbos we love most.
This seems mean.
Gale isn't real. Some of us like reading about horrible things happening to him. If you don't like it, don't read it.
Can Gale come back to life in my fic? Can he be undead?
Sure, as long as he dies first.
What does [Prompt] mean?
Prompts are open to interpretation.
Weave Death could involve Gale being bested by another mage, one of his own spells going wrong, or the end of the Weave itself. God Is Dead doesn't specify which god. Came Back Wrong could imply zombie Gale, or it could mean a foolish adventurer followed Gale's flute instructions wrong and resurrected him as a goat.
Do fics need to be in Gale POV?
Nope! Feel free to take the POV of the person or entity killing him, or of some poor soul forced to watch him die. Make his lover experience the ultimate angst. Write a letter to Morena explaining how her son was killed. The possibilities are endless.
Are there genre requirements?
Not at all. While the spirit of the event lends itself to horror and whump, you're welcome to write fics in any genre so long as Gale dies.
Can other characters die too?
You can commit fictional genocide if you want. Just make sure Gale goes with everyone else and put some focus on him.
How do I participate?
