Why Cazador?
You can find out here.
Please remember that I am a real person behind the screen and I have feelings. I actually do like a lot of BG3 characters and ships. There is a misnomer that I don't like Astarion because I make Cazador Content. This couldn't be further from the truth. I just don't like hateful discourse that surrounds him.
My OC
Bernadette Age: 34 Pronouns: She/Her Gender: Female Sexuality: Pan Race: Human Class & Subclass: Level-zero-commoner Skills: Has an innate sense of smell. Background: 7 years of retail management at a Bath & Body Works. Romanced: Cazador Szarr (reimagined.) Height: Five-foot-nine Body Type/Weight: 234lbs, unapologetically curvy and plus-size Colors/Motifs/Themes: Mauves. Blacks. Pop-culture and Goth culture. Occupation: Cazador's Secretary
Background:
Bernadette is your average assistant manager at a retail franchise in a midwest town. After dealing with a troubling customer she buys fall-themed candles from work, clocks out, gets a caramel macchiato, stops at Barnes and Nobles for vampire smut; where a wizened old man drops a nameless, blank journal. The man disappears before Bernadette can return his lost possesion. She tucks it away, pays for her smut and drives home to her trailer park for her first weekend off in two months.
After changing into whimsical goth regalia for a party of one; she fires up her PC and loads her latest save file of BG3 where she has a parasocial relationship with Astarion and is prepared to kill his master Cazador Szarr for the third time.
After defeating the vampire lord and vindicating pixel Astarion she logs off, and makes her way to the smut. A strange purple glow and a loud noise forces her to investigate. Finding the journal from earlier is glowing. The next thing she knows is the trailer is blackening away in strips like film, and she is being dragged through some kind of black hole.
Bernadette lands on the docks of Baldur's Gate where she very quickly surmises that this is not the same as the game and her life is very much in jeopardy and there is no scum saving. Through self-preservation she finds a temple to Ilmater and finds work for a sommelier a few days later. She is trying to find her footing in this new world when her boss asks her to cover a gig in the Upper City. She accepts because she needs the coin; because capitalism is alive and well even in Toril.
This places her in a strange meet-cute with Cazador Szarr, where she is quickly swept into his epicenter and confused and cautious about everything the game ever warned her about.
Oh, yeah. Astarion is in this story too. But he is early art concept Astarion. (Imagine Patrick Bates meets The Libertine)
Bernadette has to navigate feral spawn, Cazador's correspondence, Upper City politics, deodorant, and try not to fall for the person everyone always kills on sight.
