when jon asks about his poetry and hes like i havent exactly had a lot of time recently and its like. that may be true but its obviously more than that. like theres always talk (and this idea has become less en vogue in circles adjacent to me over the last decade but it is by no means gone) of creative geniuses throughout history being so good bc they were mentally ill but in reality its actually unbelievable how difficult it is to make art when youre deeply depressed. its one thing to write a poem when youre sad bc youre, For Example, pining after your boss who hates you, but its another thing entirely to write a poem when youre actively, deliberately cutting yourself off from the world and your own emotions. where does the poetry come from if you cant dig your hands in and pull it out of the world or your emotions. and why would you even care about poetry if its not for and from the world and your emotions. and how do you begin to heal if you cant access the world and your emotions. and and and

Okay. But just. Fenrir being aggressive towards everyone but Gabriel, who he'd instantly become the softest little guy. Jormungandr, this world ending snake, using illusion magic to be small enough to curl around Gabriel and take a harmless, carefree nap. Even Hel, when she manages to slip out of Helheim for a moment, engages Gabriel in long chats about the affairs of the realm and how best he could try settling down. Gabriel in turn fusses over her like she isn't the ruler of nine realms deceased, but his child. You see where I'm going with this? You see where my love for mythology fuses with supernatural to a point where I make headcanons I can't ignore?

Oh god how could I forget about Sleipnir! They're Odin's fearsome horse to everyone but Gabriel. To him, they're just a child who's still trying to navigate the world. Despite that, they travel in their free time to visit Hel in Helheim and to Midgard to see Gabriel. Gabriel and them would share stories of all the places they've travel and of all the cool things they've seen. Gabriel would still check them over for any injuries, like he does with the rest of his children. Fenrir, Jormungandr and Sleipnir would play fight like lion cubs while Hel and Gabriel sit on the sidelines taking bets on who will tap out first.
