I have finally brought my cats over to my house after 5 years of my not having stable housing and them staying with my mom. I very much missed them dearly and they're great motivation to finish cleaning my house instead of stopping halfway where it was. That is also a problem...they are both very slow to explore but exploring faster than I thought they would and now I gotta rush it a bit to make sure any deadly things are immediately put away and then to make sure to look up what I need to get rid of like scents of things or something.
I missed having living little creatures around that love me for some reason but oh my god they are so delicate to very specific but abundant things. And easily prone to stress.

There's a different species of barnacle, Sacculina, that parasitizes crabs in a similar way to this. It has a very cursed lifecycle and I assume the crab is also having a weird time.
I think i've heard of this one.
I just looked it up—it injects itself into the crab's body and replaces the crab's genitals with itself, grows roots into the crab's organs (including its brain), and controls the crab's behaviors so the crab will take care of the Sacculina larvae as a female crab would its own babies—if the crab is male, the Sacculina parasite will make the crab's body produce female hormones to basically change it to female.
This is so cool...how did this even develop? How did the parasite evolve to do that? How ancient would this relationship have to be for something so complex to form?

If you've ever heard a movie score and thought "holy shit, this is incredible", there's like, a 50% chance it was Hans Zimmer who composed it.

Anyway shoutout to John Williams, amazing composer and probably the one who made the other 50% of "holy shit amazing" soundtracks (Jurassic Park, Star Wars, Superman, and incidentally the original Harry Potter theme and score) who famously worked closely with the first openly transgender woman to be nominated for an Academy Award, Angela Morley. He respected her, and so far as I can see, has never made transphobic remarks.
