Nishihata Daigo (Naniwa Danshi)

Continuing to run as Naniwa Danshi's front-runner, Nishihata Daigo. A diligent and mature person. While he himself shows a cheerfulness that appeals to his “cunning cuteness”, he is also a kind and emotional person who is more prone to shed tears than others, and his sadness shown in a fleeting moment gives us a glimpse of his delicateness. In this shoot, he fascinated us with his 4 expressions of cuteness, beauty, maturity and glamor.
Naniwa Danshi has a lot of cutesy songs, and since I have often been in units with a bright image rather than a stylish one, I might be quite good at being “cute”. If you are a man over the age of 20, then anyone would feel like showing the "cool" side to them in their own way, but on the other hand, I think trying to be “cute” is difficult, that's why I personally would like to turn this into a weapon. However, the sex appeal of an adult is something that I don't think I have in me (laughs). If I appear to have it, it's all thanks to the staff who made it so and everyone who took wonderful pictures.
He is being humble like that but, after explaining the shooting image he can instantly enter that setting. As expected of a person who is known for his excellent acting abilities. However, the person in question says that “I don't think of myself as an actor.”
One of my jobs as an idol is acting, and whenever I am in both movies and dramas, I feel like I'm intruding in the actor's garden as “one performer”. However, as I am allowed to disturb them, I think that I must show something that is worth it.
Nishihata's latest work is the movie “Kikaijima”. Directed by the master of horror, Shimizu Takashi, it's a new kind of horror that depicts the story of the grudge that sleeps on an island who enters the world of metaverse.
Since I am a scaredy cat, it is a genre that basically I am not good with but, the people at the set were really friendly and uplifting, so I felt relieved. I have heard a lot about metaverse lately but, to have the grudge to enter that I think is quite a crazy setting. But I do think that it can happen, and since it has the elements of mystery and a sense of survival, I think a lot of people will enjoy it.
When asked about his strength as an actor, he said “Isn't it to not be seen as a Johnny's?” and laughed.
I am often told that. In television serials “Gochisousan” and “Asa ga Kita”, even in the recent drama “Kyojo”, there have been many times when I might have appeared bald or with short hair. But, that made me happy. Because, as I have been allowed to enter their garden, I wanted to put my idol self and the image of Naniwa Danshi at a side, and enter the world setting of the work and dye myself in its color.
In that case, we want you to take the approach to show us your face as an idol too. It wasn't the world that he originally wanted, but now it's a matter of gratitude and pride, and above all, a great sense of accomplishment.
I was just a normal middle schooler, but because I entered this world and started working, I began receiving words of affirmation like “You cheer me up”, fan letters, and support. The place called Johnny's, being an idol, turned a nobody like me into somebody. I do not have the desire to be loved by a lot of people but instead, I want to give my best for the people who need me and Naniwa Danshi. I want to be the person who can deliver energy and feelings of happiness to those people so that it makes them want to give their best tomorrow. And, I would be happy if the number of people who need us would increase even by a little.
Not for Nishihata Daigo, instead as the person who chooses the most optimal and best options for Naniwa Danshi.
I am not the type to step forward to begin with. But because of the requirements of time, I thought that I must lead Kansai Jr. so I took on that responsibility on my shoulder on my own. There was a moment in time when I thought that I could push Kansai Jr. towards advancement by moving forward myself. If I think about it now, it was probably my ego in action. But after the formation of the group, that feeling has long gone. I say that but it's not that I am stepping down; rather, since I believe that everyone has their own turn to come, I feel like I'm watching it happen as they happen. Because the members are stepping forward, it eventually makes me move forward as well. I hope that we are able to stand side by side together and move forward in a good direction.
We also asked him about his face as a 26 year old man.
Before I realized, I had reached my late 20s, but in terms of freshness I think I definitely wouldn't lose to the younger members (laughs). I think that's the same for Jo-kun and Hassun as well. I think Naniwa Danshi is often expected to be cheerful, energetic, and friendly as well, so I want to properly serve those. Along with that I want to show that we are going to get even cooler from here on.
After saying that he had a sudden realization, “Even when I will turn 30, our youngest (Nagao) and Micchi will still be 24 years old, right? They would not even be as old as the current me” he said while smiling.
But I will keep following them though. I believe that I will definitely be doing chuki chuki even in my 30s (laughs).
Counting four and a half years since Naniwa Danshi's formation, and one and a half years since CD debut. Right now, both in terms of group and solo, the momentum seems to be accelerating even more.
Right now what I am thinking about is about pursuing our own uniqueness. It's the other people who will say if something is Naniwa Danshi-like, right? But, from now on, I hope that we will be able to move forward while searching for that ourselves.
Lastly, following the special edition, we asked Nishihata-san questions about his self love.
My self love/act of love, it's curry from a famous chain store. I love it so much that I eat it 5 or 6 times a week. It's tasty, has a wide variety of toppings, also there is the sense of relief that I can enjoy the same taste anywhere in the country. Whether I dine in, have it delivered, or as takeaway, it's always delicious, it's the best. Spinach curry is a staple, and I enjoy changing the toppings depending on my mood that day.
