help my friend eslam rebuild her life
My name is Eslam Mohammad, I’m 24 years old, and I’m from Gaza. Over the past year, I’ve lived through unimaginable horror. I lost my home
so since january i've been in touch with a young woman named eslam mohammed. she's 24, she's from gaza, and she's passionate about drawing and photography. she has an instagram with posts dating back to 2018. even with everything she's going through she still goes out of her way to ask me how i'm doing all the time; we chat about what's going on in our lives and we wish each other luck with difficult things. she's a very real person with a very kind heart
when she first messaged me on bluesky in january she was living in egypt and raising money for her family who were still in gaza - money for things like food, medical treatment for her injured sister, and eventually evacuation. since then, that fundraiser has met its goal thanks to the donations and efforts of a lot of generous people (including the folks at wayneradiotv who featured her gfm during their palestine fundraiser stream!). now, after spending so much time and energy raising money for her family, she's started a chuffed campaign to raise money for herself. she wants to buy a new camera so she can return to her photography work, as well as continue her education
i've been trying to boost her fundraiser on bluesky and i keep thinking i should share it on here too, where i don't have a character limit and i can say everything i want to say. it took me a while to write this because i want it to be right. this matters a lot to me and i want to represent eslam and her situation the best i possibly can; i hope i've accomplished that. if you could donate to her or even just share this post i would really appreciate it
IMPORTANT UPDATE
since i posted this, eslam has chosen to use funds raised through chuffed to continue helping her family. they have still not been able to leave gaza and they still need money for food and medical treatment. honestly really heartbroken and scared for her and her family but all i can do is keep trying to share her story and donating when i'm able to
there's still time to help her, please donate if you can
(ignore the deadline, she's been periodically extending it)
