Wait, are you under the impression that menâs sports teams recruit trans women?
Or that thereâs genuinely an equal opportunity for trans women to participate in sports (recreationally or professionally) as trans men?
regardless of the fact that most trans sports bans either exclusively or disproportionately target trans women, do you actually believe in earnest that trans women (being evaluated as âeffeminate menâ) have the same likelihood of being selected for a menâs team as trans men (being evaluated as âbutch womenâ) do for womenâs teams?
(Iâll give you a hint: the patriarchal institutions of Menâs Sports do not want to have âsissy fagsâ on their teams)
Unfortunately, the shitty rules weâre being subjected to are not âthe sameâ
Even if he had to stop HRT in order to play (which does not even appear to be the case for this specific league), the fact remains that testosterone is not being treated as a permanently physiology-altering hormone for him the way it is for trans women.
Trans women having elevated testosterone in their bodies for any period of their lives is used as the primary basis for barring them from competing against cis women, but that same reasoning does not get applied to Isaac Ranson.
His time with elevated testosterone, no matter how long, is disregarded.
So in spite of the fact that there are trans bans affecting âall trans peopleâ, he still gets to play on a soccer team by capitulating to detransition rhetoric. Trans women donât have that same opportunity. There isnât a way for us to âplay alongâ with the transphobes to still get what we want like Isaac is doing- thereâs only exclusion.
So yay!! Congrats for him! Iâm so glad heâs happy he gets to play soccer, but his championing this as a good âinclusiveâ thing because he gets to play sports, rather than calling it out for being a shining example of the hypocrisy these bans require to enforce and an explicit rejection of trans women, is both deeply insulting and just plain cowardly.
