For sometime now, I have not graced this gathering, having devoted much of my attention to assisting my older sister in establishing her account and affairs.

Having recently confided in her regarding my being radqueer and transid, she undertook her own investigations and, to her surprise, found that much of it accorded with her own experience.

As the hour is very early, I give my sincere apologies should my words falter, I have not taken my rest.

When I first became aware of this deep affinity within me, I dismissed it as foolish fancy. I was still in my youth, perhaps elevenish?, when I had already grown utterly captivated by the culture and long history of the Middle Kingdom. Yet in my heart, I felt a quiet disappointment of sorts, as though I were turning from the roots that had shaped me. My family held great admiration for the islands of Japan, especially the history and culture, even having journeyed there often, yet I alone could not summon the same devotion, and for this, I felt strangely out of place.

In my earlier years around middle school, I made the acquaintance of a young transfer student newly arrived from China, who first opened this world to me. Thereafter, all I came to know, I pursued through my own humble efforts, seeking knowledge, and exchanging words where I was able with individuals from the mainland. At the time, I believed it no more than an excessive fixation. Yet the years passed, and these thoughts did not fade. Instead, they deepened into a longing to dwell within that land, a yearning to not only acquire east asian features, but to shape myself in accordance with their beauty standards, and to immerse myself fully in its history, most especially the age to which my heart felt most bound.

Unfortunately this was around the time that the term weeaboo was circulating at its heaviest, and the hate for it was just as heavy. Think VenusAngelic, the YouTuber around circa 2012, early on in her channel. And so, fearing ridicule and misunderstanding, I concealed these thoughts within, and spoke of them to no one. It was not until some years later that I came to know Jùnjíe, my former partner who is a cischinese man, whose kindness and guidance I hold in the highest regard even to this day. Through him, I was gently encouraged to draw nearer, to learn the language, to understand the customs of his family, to enrich myself with its deep history and culture, and to embrace what I had long kept hidden. For his steadfast support, I remain deeply grateful, for it gave me the courage to step forward at last and begin my transition.

I am inclined to believe that I had already come to hold such views long before the term was recoined in the year 2021. At that time, I possessed no such term, yet I found myself interacting with and being a part of communities that held the same/similar ideals and beliefs as I do, and kept a respectful distance from those that did not.

It brings me a certain contentment to see that, in this present day, that others may speak more openly of such inclinations without undue restraint. As for myself, the roots of these convictions may be traced back many years, around circa 2010, by which you may judge how long I have carried them within me.

Random question for fun, if you want, are you more of a rural person or a city person? So, would you rather live in misty green mountains, or in the middle of Shanghai? Or somewhere in-between/else? I'm personally a cityboy, but I'd like to see some more rural areas too.. drink fancy tea and enjoy the view... and wear Hanfu too, I think it looks lovely, traditional clothing is so cool...

As for myself, my heart is not wholly fixed to one path, and I could be content in either direction. Yet some time ago, I came to favor Sichuan, drawn by its customs of devoted house husbands and its richly spiced cuisine. Shaanxi, however, also holds great appeal, for within it lies Xi’an, once known as Chang’an, the former imperial capital during the height of the Great Tang Dynasty. ᥫ᭡

I am deeply saddened. I have been unable to locate an account I wished to follow and engage with. I worry it has been taken from this place with the annual ban wave, and I feel a quiet sorrow at its absence. I had looked forward to treating them as a cherished younger companion in spirit, as I fondly saw them as a little brother. Let it be remembered that hesitation can cause an opportunity to slip beyond reach, as opportunity, once passed, may not return.
