Automation Bias is a pretty good existing term that I think people should know that's related.

Sometimes I like to call a specific variant of it Calculator Syndrome (for lack of a better name) because I think the decades of widespread digital calculator availability and their impressive accuracy with arithmetic has unintentionally biased people to imagine any question you ask a computer is being treated like a math problem that's being "solved" behind the scenes.

I see this in comment threads all the time about ChatGPT where many people are under the illusion that when you ask ChatGPT a question it scours the entire internet trying to find every chunk of information possible then crunches it down into a consensus answer. These people seem to excuse ChatGPT's mistakes on errors in the information it sourced online. For anyone who doesn't know, the answer as to why ChatGPT is constantly wrong is a much more fundamental issue with how ChatGPT works: It doesn't know what information, facts, and problems are. It's basically just a fancy text generator that's designed to construct reasonably coherent sounding responses based on millions and millions of text patterns it's seen before. It's automated bullshitting.

I like to imagine that Sam Vimes, instead of dying properly, instead got minor godhood. All watchmen at some point thank him for his actions, his actions a ripple across the Disc. There's precedent in the Duchess of Borogravia, and in his arc. He keeps getting promotions, and hates each one. What higher status could he be unwillingly raised to than divinity, eternally watching the watchman?

Anyways, that's just a headcanon i've got
