Today I was selling at an Artist Alley. A girl started talking to me about TADC, and we were both talking about how much we love Jax. It was all fun and games until she said:

Girl: But did you see it? the creator said Jax is trans… Don’t get me wrong, I’m bi, but… the creator only did that because she saw some fan theories and decided to make them canon at the last second! It came completely out of nowhere.

Me: Well, there were some clues, but I get that they were things like trans american slang, so if you’re not familiar with it, you probably wouldn’t catch them. But the creator also said Jax was a self-insert, and since she’s a trans woman… well, I never really doubted Jax was trans.

Girl: Oh, I didn’t know she was trans.

I didn’t lose a sale today. But it’ll happen eventually… Someone is going to say something transphobic about Jax to me, and I won’t be able to keep up my salesperson persona.

This has been my main argument against "AI" from the very beginning.

OpenAI scraped the entire web. All of which had been a labor of love from humans. Wikipedia is the backbone of a lot of LLMs, and that was volunteer human labor. They stole it and now they're selling it back to us.

And worse, they're trying to destroy the free sources that they stole from. It's destruction of human knowledge on an unprecedented scale. The burning of the library of Alexandria has nothing on this.
