The Last Unicorn is an obvious one, but dark 80s fantasy in general like the black cauldron or labyrinth. Love that cel animated look.

“Come.” Said The Dragon, “There’s someone important you must meet.” And The Unicorn followed.

Belonging

“Well done.” Whispered The Witch. And The Unicorn was proud.

“Marvelous! Look what I’ve done!” The Witch proclaimed, flaunting the cherubs to her cohort.

The Divine

The little Unicorn had never accomplished such a feat before, but her desire to impress The Witch was so great that she poured every ounce of her power into calling down the divine.

Then came the day that The Witch approached The little Unicorn. “You may join me, but first you must prove to me your power.” Said The Witch. “Me? Anything for you! What do you desire?” Replied The little Unicorn. The Witch smiled. “You must produce for me three cherubs.”

The little Unicorn felt it was unfair how The Witch had been treated. “You don’t know her! You only wish to see her fall!”She bristled, facing the mob.

Mobs formed against The Witch. For as many admirers as she had there were just as many who found her revolting “They are cruel! What have I ever done to them?” cried The Witch. “Pay them no mind,” steadied The little Unicorn.“Remember-you are The Witch.” And The Witch was moved.

And The Witch and The First Unicorn created beautiful things. Spectacles of their combined power. The little Unicorn watched in awe as spiders twirled on fuchsia thread. “One day, I will create like they do…” thought The little Unicorn.

“Who gave you that collar?” Asked the younger one. “The Witch. For she and I are equals.” Said The First Unicorn. And The little Unicorn longed to belong to The Witch, too.

Equals

“Where is she?” thought The little Unicorn. It had been ages since The First Unicorn had climbed the spire. “Surely she will return soon.” Yet a crack of uncertainty betrayed her voice.

“It should be I beside The Witch,” the Dragon sneered. “I helped build this castle. I am one of its pillars!”

The Witch confided in The little Unicorn. Tales of the mobs, the witch hunts, The Scourge. The little Unicorn thought of her time in the Whispering Woods, and saw that The Witch hurt too.
