for the sake of argument lets say that you’re mr wastaken, the dust has settled with the revolution only for a surprise in the elections (that you’d been pushing for but ultimately couldn’t cause by yourself) to up-heave everything and put you in a more advantageous position when Suddenly the techno “The Blade” blade joins the server.

it’s hot off of the heels of your duel with the man, and while one fight in one specific circumstance doesn’t indicate how every outcome between you two would end it Does leave you with a respect for his abilities and fear of what he could do if put on the other side of a conflict from you. so you gather up supplies to meet him in a show of good will and it goes about as well as you could hope. you establish each other as a respectful neutral ground and open up possibilities for a future relationship.

you follow the conflict for a while, trying to ride that line between pulling strings and never showing your hand while you try to work around unknowns to lead to Both parties’ destruction without placing blame on yourself.

technoblade is there of course, but he’s not in it for the same reasons that his partners are, that comes to an obvious head. technoblade wants anarchy, the complete destruction of organized system of governments. and while his ideals of total freedom are counter to your end goal, they’re tantalizingly relevant to the means with which you want to achieve that end.

there’s paranoia in the ranks of the pogtopians, about loyalty and about trust, and schlatt already sowed the seeds for that distrust to specifically center technoblade. so you press on that fracture, encouraging it to splinter, with a rumor about spies that sends people scrabbling to find people they can trust, encouraging pogtopia to fracture under the surface while you try to enable wilbur to succeed in manberg’s destruction.

the moment finally arrives, schlatt is dead and the people leftover are just about ready to start licking their wounds and rebuilding stronger. you stoke the anger you already know techno is going to be feeling, you taunt and push him in private where no one else can see and that fracture finally flourishes into a break. it goes better than you ever could’ve imagined.

wilbur dead, schlatt dead, the country torn apart, the children and young adults left alone, and techno runs off hanging an arrow over Both of their heads as he promises to destroy them again if they rebuild. pulling attention squarely away from you as the paranoia that’d been seeded and bloomed in pogtopia is allowed to grow and flourish in new l'manberg.

you and technoblade were technically on opposite sides of the war but you were on the same Ideological side in the end and you know that matters more. you both cheered when l'manberg burned, and you were allowed to get away with it because technoblade was louder.

the first thing you do after the dust settles is pick up your plan to separate and isolate tommy from the remnants of l'manberg by trying to frame him. your ultimate goal here is to get tommy away and get a hold of the discs so you can destroy the now purposeless l'manberg once and for all while you build your attachments museum to try to control the people that’ll scatter in the aftermath.

technoblade now lives in the woods out of everyone’s way, isolated and (as far as you know) ally-less. based on everything that has happened up until this point, what are the odds that you read him as a threat that has to take priority right now? so much so that you commission a prison the day After tommy’s exile, the main moving piece of your main plan for your main goal?

Theoretically you could, perhaps, be worried about the potential of technoblade identifying you as a threat once everyone else has been crushed, when you’re allowed to take your role as the unquestioned leader of the server. after all, techno is an anarchist and presumably doesn’t see you as the threat that he should Because you haven’t gained the power you think you ought to have.

and maybe we could even say that the seeds of a god complex are slowly budding inside of you as you work towards your goal of getting that control. maybe you’re Bitter that you have to be careful around technoblade, that technoblade was strong enough to beat you in Any context, even if you Could use that to your advantage in an alliance. maybe your ego matters more because you think you can do it alone.

so lets assume for one moment that dream Did design and commission the prison specifically for technoblade. and now you have the conundrum of trying to find some way to get techno in there.

techno has all of his lives and all of the free time in the world to stockpile and train and build up his sanctuary that you haven’t dared to step foot in, careful to avoid stepping on toes before the shoe has dropped.

you keep your eyes and ears open, you learn that new l'manberg intends to try to kill technoblade. this should be perfect, this should be fate itself lining up to hand you exactly what you need. new l'manberg will leave techno vulnerable, maybe even Kill him, and you can swoop in with an advantage you never could’ve gotten anywhere else, fully armored standing against a weaponless techno.

the perfect and Only opportunity to march him to an impenetrable prison. you could even frame it as you doing l'manberg a favor, lean even Harder into the manipulation you’re pulling on tubbo. you might even gain favor with the members that’ve been more openly suspicious and hostile towards you.

but you don’t do that, do you? you approach technoblade directly and warn him about what’s to come. you lead him towards the one item that’d guarantee that he’d get away without losing a life and you swoop in to save him in person. you give him just enough for him to escape, just enough to not incriminate yourself, and you gain both a favor and a reinforcement of your ally-ship with him.

what you’ve set up now is a mutual relationship wherein you’ll both stand together against l'manberg Rather Than getting him out of the way. who are people that you’re fully confident in your own ability to destroy, in your own words they only still existed because you wanted something from them. their leader is weak, the only person that gave them value is in your hands, and the most spit-fire among them is the weakest of them all in your opinion. and your favor is? going to do what?

how does this set you up at an advantage if your ultimate goal, something that you consider a priority nearly on par with tommy’s exile, is to get technoblade into the prison? are you going to use the favor to ask him to walk in? hey techno, can you scrub the floors of this high security prison I just have laying around without any weapons or armor and without telling anyone where you’re going? thanks <3

(dream didn’t just want tubbo dead because he wasn’t useful to him anymore, he has a prison for that, one that he was already taking tommy to. and barring that he wasn’t beyond locking people up in the attachments museum to control people. he had henry, he had the discs, surely tubbo was useful by the very nature of tommy’s attachment to him. there was no reason to kill tubbo unless there was an ulterior motive. moreover, dream should know more than anyone that the server had attachment and chaos before tommy joined. he intentionally cut those attachments away after all.)

dream as a character rarely gives the flat out truth, especially not to Tommy. he’ll often show tommy his true colors in a way that he won’t for other characters, but he has a vested interest in controlling tommy. people throw around the word “gaslighting” a lot, but dream’s treatment of tommy in exile is right on the money for the Real definition, in trying to make someone doubt their own perception of reality so you can control what they believe and what they feel. 

in my opinion, dream doesn’t want tommy to know that tommy is His attachment because that give tommy power over him even when he has literally nothing else. we know that dream thinks of tommy as fun, and we know that the image of an idealized past that he used to justify his actions during the disc war finale just did not exist. that the importance that he placed on tommy did not exist. it was the same with doomsday, he told tommy that the server would be at peace now but when pressed about Why he did what he did the answer that he had was that it was more Fun to do it this way. that it was fun to hurt everyone and make tommy watch.

it’s interesting, because he makes these almost token efforts to try to obscure his attachment to tommy only to give away his hand with the slightest provocation. and he seems to Genuinely believe that tommy already feels that attachment, that tommy understands the fun dream has with him. chips down, his life on the line, and dream tries to convince tommy that they’re Friends and that they have Fun. not that he could fix the server or bring whatever peace he supposedly wants to go back to, but that he’s as important to tommy as tommy is to him because they’re both in on the game.

so no, I don’t take his word for it when he says it. especially not with how much evidence to the contrary there is. like I said, I’ve already talked about this before [Link 1, Link 2, Link 3], but to go over it again

1: exile was premeditated. dream griefed half the server trying to frame tommy Specifically to whip people up into a frenzy and confront tommy just days after the 16th. it was only after that didn’t bare fruit that dream latched onto tommy burning george’s house, which george didn’t have any say or agency in.

2: exile was unlawful imprisonment if not outright kidnapping. dream didn’t want anyone to be able to visit tommy and actively scared away and sabotaged people who tried. he didn’t want tommy to run away and threatened to kill him first and then hunted him down second. none of this is consistent with what a real exile should look like and certainly not what’d been agreed upon in court.

3: dream commissioned the prison the Second Day of tommy’s exile, which means he’d had the idea for longer. which means he had the idea While He Was Actively Trying To Kidnap Tommy.

4: Multiple Times throughout exile he told tommy that he was going to be stuck with dream forever. he straight up said Multiple Times that tommy would never go back, that he and tommy were going to be together for “a while.” and this didn’t end in exile, far from it. on top of the obsidian grid, when we Know that dream was planning on putting tommy in pandora’s vault, he looked him in the face and said that their story would never be over because tommy was too fun. and again, when he finally proved that the revival worked how he hoped it would he loudly declared that he and tommy would be immortal Together Forever.

that was the end goal, dream wanted tommy to himself Forever. that’s why he orchestrated exile, that’s why he wanted tommy in pandora’s vault, that’s why he wanted the revival book. dream told tommy that exile was his own fault just the same as he denied his initial reason for creating the prison

5a: pandora’s vault itself, for two reasons. first, the cell doesn’t offer any protection to the visitor, which seems odd if the whole point is to contain someone that dream thought was Dangerous enough to warrant the cell. technoblade nearly killed quackity by pushing him in lava and quackity was Armed when visitors shouldn’t be. if dream wanted to visit a caged lion then he’d put precautions in place to protect himself from the teeth, but he didn’t.

5b: pandora’s vault was Intentionally designed with tommy’s triggers in mind, both from what dream would’ve seen before tommy was exiled and from things that dream planned on doing To tommy in exile. people argue about whether or not this was intentional in character but we Know that it was intentional from the cc’s perspectives, and we have to ask Why that would be if it wasn’t meant to mean anything. the blackstone, the claustrophobia, the potatoes, “put your things in the hole tommy,” the lava, the lack of sunlight, etc etc etc.

6: if dream Had an answer for who the prison was really for that Wasn’t tommy then he could have given it to sam when he was accusing him. dream was trying to bargain for his own life and his own free will during that argument, sam thinking the prison was built for tommy was to dream’s detriment. if he could tell sam that he’d intended it for Technoblade he’d at least be able to tell sam it was for one of his enemies. anything but the child that sam was so attached to (that dream Knew that sam was attached to, that he was already trying to exploit that attachment to in that conversation). but he said nothing, he had nothing to say to counter it.

Actually, if you actually think about it, outright saying the prison was for c!Tommy would be a much more efficient way to make him afraid. And about the “oh the prison was made with c!Tommy’s triggers in mind”, like it’s a prison, it’s supposed to be a confined space, and in Minecraft specially, you can’t really make an inescapable prison without lava, it’s just logical. You also mentioned that c!Dream didn’t want anyone visiting c!Tommy during exile but. He got visitors, multiple times actually, damn, even Lazerbeam (I don’t know how to write his name) visited him, even Drista visited him!

Also let’s not forget that c!Dream was being, you know, tortured and c!Sam is very much his abuser, so I think it’s quite illogical to expect c!Dream to go like “Well Sam you see the prison wasn’t actually built for c!Tommy” when that would make c!Sam very mad.

is it creepy and unsettling for a grown man to be obsessed with a teenager? is it? okay, then tell me why dream was making tunnels to connect their houses, hiding in his walls, actively stalking him, to the point that other characters Noticed and Commented on it back during the original Disc Wars before l’manberg.

tell me why dream singled tommy out when he declared war on l’manberg, addressing tommy first and associating l’manberg itself with being childish, when Wilbur was the president. why dream specifically Chose to kill tommy in the final control room Instead Of Wilbur (the chests were labeled, he had Punz kill wilbur, he went for tommy intentionally). tell me why he accepted the duel for l’manberg’s freedom when he’d already won, tell me why he accepted the trade for the discs when he’d won the war And the duel.

tell me why he messaged tommy and Only tommy when he and wilbur were exiled asking if he was okay, tell me why he delivered tommy a chest of supplies and left a handwritten note sucking up to him about how great l’manberg was to convince tommy that he was on his side and was his friend when we knew from his own mouth that he never respected l’manberg’s freedom or it’s status as a nation at all. tell me why he happily betrayed his long time friend’s trust to help tommy in a petty war, giving tommy access to mars when he hadn’t even asked for it and fighting in the war with him after he’d Explicitly said that he couldn’t risk people seeing him openly partner with pogtopia in the note he’d left for tommy. tell me why he denied ever being on tommy’s side in front of other people when he switched to join schlatt in exchange for the revival book, but he Happily helped tommy get supplies days before the war that he was fighting Against tommy when tommy was alone. tell me why he made eye contact with tommy and Laughed when tommy turned down the presidency because he had unfinished business.

tell me why on the 18th, Two Days after wilbur’s death when dream Already Had the revival book, dream spent an hour Actively trying to frame tommy for griefs all over the server Specifically With The Intention of getting people to confront tommy over it. [Link] and when that failed to get the results that he wanted he took control over the situation when tommy griefed george’s house (none of it coming to even a Fraction of what dream had done trying to frame him) when george himself didn’t even know what dream was trying to do. why dream made an entire Speech about Control Over Tommy being the literal Only Thing that he wants or cares about. tell me why he sought out control over tommy Over keeping his long time friends that he’d known longer when tommy Was Intentionally Staying Out Of The Way. when tommy had rejected presidency And vice presidency. why he prioritized Tommy over any of the Actual cabinet members.

tell me why he lead tommy to a specific location and told him that he had to stay there or he’d die. tell me why he told tommy that he wasn’t allowed anywhere that civilization had been touched when the rules of his exile should By Law only include l’manberg and greater smp (meaning the badlands, manifoldland, techno’s cabin, mexican l’manberg/el rapids, hell even little penis island All should’ve been fair game for tommy to go to (sidenote: au where tommy moved into little penis island during exile. I don’t think it would’ve been better but it would’ve been funnier)). tell me why he was watching tommy, why he was visiting him every day, why he was creating arbitrary rules that he was forcing tommy to follow at the threat and Action Of physical abuse when absolutely None of that was discussed in court and no one was there to see what he was doing to tommy.

tell me why he told sam he wasn’t Allowed to follow them because he wasn’t allowed to know where tommy’s exile location was when sam wanted to give tommy pie. tell me why he intercepted and destroyed the mail that ranboo left for tommy Multiple Times, with ranboo having to change the location of where he kept them in fear of dream stopping communication again. tell me why badboyhalo seemed Scared to be caught visiting tommy, why he felt the need to hide that he was giving tommy presents for fear of what dream would do to him. tell me why dream Lied to tubbo when tubbo asked about tommy, when he told tubbo that tommy didn’t want any visitors to stop him from seeing tommy. tell me why he Straight Up Murdered mexican dream when md said he was going to move in to logstedshire, why the thought of tommy having permanent company that wasn’t his lead dream to taking three canon lives and sending someone to limbo.

tell me why he went out of his way to convince tommy that nobody else cared about him, that he was the only friend that tommy had and that maybe that was Always true. why he told tommy about how much better everyone was doing when he was gone, why he lied to tommy when he asked if tubbo had asked about him, why he encouraged people engage in the physical abuse he’d been doing with tommy and Laughing about it. tell me why he allowed tommy to throw a party specifically the goal of sabotaging the invitations so only he comes, why he took the opportunity to send ghostbur to melt in the snow so tommy wouldn’t even have the ghost of his dead brother as company. tell me why he specifically lied about handing tubbo the invitation on purpose so tommy would Know that tubbo chose not to come rather than it being an accident, tell me why he lied about tubbo intentionally destroying his “your tommy” compass so tommy would well and truly believe that tubbo hated him. tell me why he said “it’s not like they want you anyways” verbatim.

tell me why he actively tried to convince tommy that he was his friend while he was isolating and abusing him. why he presented himself as a savior figure at the party and spent the night giving him gifts and playing with him after so thoroughly convincing tommy that nobody loved him. tell me why he was telling tommy that he didn’t hate him while he was hauling him out of l’manberg, why he lied about having destroyed his things the second time he did while insisting that they were Friends. tell me why he tried to Convince tommy that they were having fun even while he was hitting tommy every day, even while he Openly knew that tommy was suicidal.

tell me why he physically abused tommy, mentally abused tommy, emotionally abused tommy, why he gaslit him, why he isolated him, why he stole his things and made him helpless so he’d be Dependent on him. tell me why he kept tommy in a death grip when tommy had already been stripped of everything and had no one else to rely on.

tell me why he reacted the way that he did when he found the chests. tell me why he destroyed everything tommy had, why he killed tommy’s only food source, why he destroyed tommy’s nether portal, why he told tommy he wasn’t allowed to have any more visitors at all, why he told tommy he had to start over again, why he told tommy that he would Never kill himself, all over a couple of chests that we Never see him say tommy wasn’t allowed to have on screen. tell me why when he visited punz that day he said he’d be checking back soon because he Knew how far he was pushing tommy, how he nearly said that he wanted to make sure that tommy was still under his control but backed out when he realized what he was about to let slip.

tell me why he hunted tommy down when he ran away, going to techno’s house Twice and confronting them at the portal. tell me why he was so invested in getting the other disc in the first place when he’d Fully said that the only value he had in them was as tools to control tommy. tell me why he kept l’manberg around after the end of the manberg v pogtopia arc SOLELY because tubbo had one of the discs in his enderchest and dream knew he had to manipulate tubbo to get it.

tell me why he declared doomsday after he got his hands on the discs. tell me why the confrontation on top of the obsidian grid happened. tell me why there was Zero hesitation when he told tommy that he hurt l’manberg instead of just burning the discs because it was more Fun that way (confirming that it Was a way to punish tommy). tell me why he told tommy that their story was never going to be over while he had possession of the revival book and while his prison was being completed.

tell me why he built a shrine of Gold in his attachments museum for the discs. tell me why he bothered keeping attachments of tommy’s in the attachments museum when he fully intended on getting tommy out of the way. tell me why dream said in Explicit Words that tommy was the most important person on the server, that he brought attachment to the server, that he brought chaos to the server, that he was the Key to controlling the entire server. tell me why he elevated tommy’s importance to justify Keeping Him Forever, in those Exact Explicit Words, in pandora’s vault with the use of the revival book. tell me why he Specifically told tommy to bring tubbo to the disc war finally Just so he could kill tubbo in front of tommy when tubbo wasn’t “useful” anymore, despite the fact that he had a whole ass prison with multiple cells that he could’ve kept tubbo in. despite the fact that he had no problem throwing skeppy into the attachments museum. tell me what connor does for dream that tubbo apparently can’t do to justify why tubbo had to die over anyone else that wasn’t immediately “useful.” tell me that it has nothing to do with his desire for control over tommy.

tell me why when he was surrounded and tommy was threatening him he didn’t Start with the revival book, he started by saying that tommy wouldn’t kill him for the same reason that he wouldn’t kill tommy, because they’re Friends because they’re Important to each other. tell me why when tommy asked he said that they had fun together in exile and with the wars. tell me why he was Genuinely shocked when this didn’t work, why he Genuinely thought that tommy was as invested in him as he was tommy. tell me why he gave up power and freedom for tommy’s life, why tommy threatening to kill himself made dream give himself up.

tell me why when tommy asked dream what he missed in the prison dream listed tommy Separately from his friends and his stuff, not a person but a possession. tell me why he talked about tommy and ONLY tommy in between visitors, tell me why he described what he did to tommy in exile to sam (why he described abusing a teenager). tell me why he wouldn’t so much as talk to sapnap during his visit but he was back to being damn near cheerful for tommy’s second visit (the next visit after).

tell me why it was HEAVILY implied that dream used the enderwalk state to get ranboo to trap tommy in the prison with him. tell me why he insisted to tommy that they were going to have fun, that they were going to bond, that it was going to be Like Exile. tell me why he insisted that exile was Fun to tommy As he was having a mental breakdown. tell me why he only killed tommy to make a point, tell me why he killed tommy when he was afraid of losing the control he had over him.

tell me why he immediately decided that they were going to be together Forever as immortals once he realized the book was real. tell me why he would say that.

and again, tell me why one of the first things he did during quackity’s first visit was ask him if people thought him killing tommy was “cool.” tell me why one of the first things he did when we saw him alone with technoblade was ask about tommy, tell me why he asked about tommy Multiple Times.

it is not in question whether or not dream wanted to lock tommy away forever and keep him alive with the revive book for all eternity, because he Explicitly Tried To Do That On Screen first during the disc war finale and Second when he killed and revived him. that’s what happened, that’s what he said he wanted to do and almost did do. the question is whether that was his plan from the very beginning or whether he isolated and abused tommy for the sake of it and came up with the rest of it later.

is that weird? do you think it’s Weird that he did that and that he wanted that? then what are you doing defending him? what are you doing Denying that he did these things when they happened on screen?

you’re ignorant and in denial and you’re not going to make that my problem. if you can’t handle that dream horrifically abused and obsessed over a teenager then this isn’t the media for you and you should find something else to invest your time in rather than trying to sanitize and erase it.

but it’s Crazy how dream apologists were calling people pedophiles left and right for acknowledging the on screen plot that happened right there in the story, and then turned around and didn’t give a shit when dream enabled actual for real sexualization of minors
