I love u small talk and small towns and potlucks and bringing over casseroles to your struggling neighbors. I love u cowboys and ranch hands and arizonian cactus. I love u appalachian trail and dirtbikes and divebars. I love u sparklers and fireflies. I love u mark twain and toni morrison and emily dickinson and henry david thoreau. I love u rock n roll i love u bluegrass and hippies i love u jimi hendrix and nirvana and CCR and janis joplin. I love u victorian houses and jonny appleseed and john henry and mothman and bigfoot. Not to mention the inherent racism of denying American culture too. Like, BIPOC have contributed immensely to our culture (especially Black folks)

Also say what the fuck you what about how Taylor Swift should be taxed (she is taxed, they invented a whole ass tax for her in Rhode Island) and I agree she should be. But ON TOP OF THAT, every single one of these charities she and Travis just donated to is related to a place she lives or has lived. She is literally paying into her community! Directly!!

with love. you have to fact check shit. yes you. you still have to fact check shit. a lot of people are great at fact checking stuff they don’t want to be true, but somehow are still absolute ass at fact checking stuff that’s rhetorically convenient to them. even people my age, who I KNOW grew up doing internet/bibliography literacy workshops, and being warned not to believe anything that isn’t reliably sourced, people who DO harp on fact checking conservative output or whatever, are still kneejerk sharing unsourced shit that is partially or wholly untrue or misleading, because it suits whatever narrative they’re pursuing in that moment, without even a “take this with a grain of salt”. fact check!!!!!! look at the sources!!!!! yes it’s a drag!!! do it!!!!!

Go nuts. The point is that this isn't a company trying to dogpile on a drag queen, it's a company following a standard legal practice to protect its trademark. Disney does it all the time.

They are suing because she filed for her own trademark for similar use (apparel and maybe others?) so they have to defend their trademark for this or they might lose the trademark/be unable to defend it in the future - so it's not just "she is selling merch" it's "she is selling merch AND is trying to trademark essentially our trademark" which is when it moves from options to necessary. (This is the extent of my understanding of the specifics I have just gleaned this from a lot of IP lawyers lmao)

Power of Attorney is a completely different thing than a will! POA just means someone else can act in your place for various issues/transactions *while you are alive* - it can help in situations with getting affairs in order or for when you are elderly otherwise incapacitated and know you will be less able to see to your own affairs due to physical limitations, physical location, or mental deficiencies, (and can even be good to have one ready to go that has a clause that it only goes into effect when a doctor has declared you cannot make decisions due to physical or mental incapacity) but it is not estate planning and (as Jaime noted) POA ends at death of the person you have that power over - you can't do anything anymore! You need a will or to be certain that every asset you have is going to pass outside of the estate via beneficiaries, joint owners on accounts, or transfers on death on file!
