I had the same thought about the giving away and aisle, and think it also ties into the T&T and the statement. Yes Taylor is a romantic lover girl, but that has nothing to do with needing to accept some of the patriarchal traditions of getting married. And I think she has some thoughts on those as well.

Unless I read everything wrong, Taylor was not “given away” which goes with the joining of families that they seemed to be going for. And I can see a lot of the language used around that (not the act of being walked by your father/parents) being some stuff she realized she could opt out of.

I think people are missing that things like a string arrangement of Love Story to walk down the aisle and a lyric from Blank Space on the wedding favour is the whole idea of Taylor is who she is regardless of it being a personal or professional setting. It’s not The Taylor Swift at some points, it’s always Taylor Swift.

You have a generational hit that your husband loves and it contains the lyrics “so it’s gonna be forever” and you’re NOT immediately finding a way to use that in your wedding? It’s the easiest thing to understand.

The handkerchief is peak Taylor. Incorporating her lyrics into something to make a joke or for sentimentality. People just don’t know her anymore.

people freaking out about wedding guests are so interesting to me bc they’ve clearly never lived in the real world? bc i’m trans and an uncle of mine literally invented the bathroom bill (🥀) but like i grew up hanging out at his house and with his kids and he’s since passed but he’d probably have been invited to my very queer wedding unless my partner was really not ok with it. idk relationships are complicated (and it’s so clear that the people complaining online just. don’t have any relationships to draw from which makes me sad)
