to be fair i think taylor was worried about marriage as an institution and never about him//Taylor's writing and depiction of marriage later on in her discography is so interesting to me because it is often bad for the women, dark, and ends in murder (No Body, No Crime). On Fortnight she writes about a marriage that is loveless and bare of anything good. It is way different than a song like Paper Rings which is a slightly different shade of "I just want you". The difference is on Wish List it is more than just an idea of something, but something concrete and real. And I we learned that marriage and kids were something that were held over her head on and off since she was young, but increasingly became a way to keep her because who else would want her and those things with her.

My husband and I had a sex moratorium the month before our wedding. It totally would have been easier if he was on a different coast than me. (Not saying they are, just that it would have been easier for me 😂)

I love how much I can tell people just don't listen to Eldest Daughter based on how they talk about Taylor. She told us everything about how she was feeling about relationships and marriage explicitly when she didn't have to say a thing.
