I actually don't understand how fictionkin works. How can a "soul" or "spirit" or whatever can travel like 100000... LIGHT-YEARS?!(Your "soul" is faster that light?) If the multiverse exist, how can something can go to another universe without dying? There MUST be a blank space for separate the universes. And you're creating a paradox, if everything in the multiverse exist, the how about a universe where you AREN'T kin?(I also don't understand how otherkin or therian works, but fictionkin is...)
oml. exactly. and I didn’t even think of the speed of light… If they’re trying to use science, that’s hilarious. if they’re trying to cite wicca as some kind of explanation (kin often do for whatever reason), it’s considered in that religion fucking impossible for something to cross between astral planes/universes.
you’re right. it’s a literal paradox – both kin and not kin? (schrodinger’s fictionkin?)
“tagging art as ‘kin’ ruins the bond between artist and art”
as an artist myself, I understand the bond between artist and art. I do. but understand this: I don’t post ANYTHING that means that much to me. fuckin nothing I post means SO MUCH to me that I’d have a meltdown over it being tagged as kin.
vent art? ocs? sure, tell people not to tag it as kin. that’s different. that’s actually personal.
art of characters that you don’t own? why can’t people tag it? unless you’re kin with that character and aren’t okay with doubles, what’s the issue? are you that emotionally invested in that character that you feel like something’s been taken from you because some kid on the internet tagged it as kin?
before being kin was a well known thing people would tag stuff as “me” ALL. THE. TIME. and no one batted an eye. now, when kin people do it, its suddenly a huge fuckin deal. and I’m not pulling the “that’s ableist because kin people are mentally ill” that’s not what I mean. I just mean, why is it suddenly not okay for a group of people with different beliefs to do something people have been doing for literal years?
if I reblogged a post of something like a tipped over chair and tagged it as “me” people wouldn’t think anything of it. but if I do that for a character in some art, people get upset? why?
it makes no fuckin sense. not only that, but “don’t tag as kin” was started by kin people. it means “this is me and I’m not okay with doubles” or “this is my friend and they aren’t okay with doubles”
why does this thing that’s literally harmless make people upset. I don’t fuckin get it.
I don't understand all the discourse around doubles. What's wrong with them? That's what the multiverse theory is all about, right? The fact that there's infinite universes? So in all those universes it would be logical there would be multiples of a person.

Headcanons
The beauty of headcanons is that they are the sole property of their creator - therefore each one is unique even if we tend to borrow from others to add to our own vision. A headcanon isn’t wrong. Even when other people dismiss it. Even if other people despise it and seemingly despise you because of it. In fact, even canon cannot completely destroy it, despite learning that a particular headcanon no longer fits. We simply tweak our view slightly so that our headcanon and canon have some commonality, or perhaps we simply ignore canon and continue to view things from our perspective. Each writer or artist creates their own world, but all of us who enjoy these creative works create our own version of this world.
Respect headcanons and respect each other.
Fickin disclaimer I guess??
I don’t give a flying fuck if you ID as any of my characters or tag my art as kin, as long as you aren’t claiming the character is your creation! I would actually be honored to see people IDing as my babies (who I’ll post about soon, don’t worry) and I would fully support you!
Am I a bad person for being uncomfortable with the fact you're kin with my id: a novel

You are aware that multiverse theory doesn't work the way you think it does? I guess you can use the idea of kin as a spiritual belief but please do not skew a theory to fit your agenda. In multiverse theory, our universe is the ONLY one that supports life or one of a couple, making it impossible for all the fictionkin to exist.
whatever you say, anon
As someone who has never heard of kin before what is fictionkin? And how do I know if I'm kin with somebody?
From what I understand, fictionkin is kind of an open definition. For me it means I experience a strong feeling of being the characters I kin with, and recieving some of their memories.
Some people think they’re the only reincarnation/ only true Kin ™ which is a kinda mean thing??
And I think discovering kin is different for everyone!! when i realize a kintype,my brain is kind of in the same mindset as that character and i feel like i should look like them- with my star kinshift it can get intense to the point where it feels like I have the little hearts on my face.
I dont do too good a job at explaining, I’m sorry!
