Mensahbot September is a casual laidback prompt event about having fun with the undefinable relationship that is Mensah and Murderbot.

Queer platonic or romantic SFW or NSFW Why and how? A sensual evening with surprising consequences? Or maybe Mensah can't conceive after multiple tries and was sad about it? Or maybe MB wanted to be third mom in a different way? Maybe constructs could be used as a noncon surrogate and MB was forced to install this function? Or maybe it's some kind of alien remnant mishap? Or somehow it happened don't worry about it. Put a baby in that bot!

Trauma Bonded Pair by TheSpaceAce

After Murderbot saved Mensah from Greycris, Mensah acknowledged that it would be easy for them to slip into unhealthy codependency. In an AU where she's too rattled to make that decision, her and MB end up so emotionally entwined that they can't go anywhere without the other. MB Constantly checks its drones where Mensah is, Mensah panics if she hasn't heard from it for more than a few minutes, it has to stand between her and any "threat", etc. There could also be some possessiveness on either of their parts which further alienates them from their loved ones. How does Mensah's family cope? What does Perihelion think? Do PresAux understand a little bit where this is coming from? If Mensah develops a touch-aversion, how does Murderbot handle being her one exception? How do they balance her need for touch with MB's discomfort with anything more than holding hands or a quick hug? (I mean cuddles, basically) I'd prefer platonic or qpr, but it's really up to the writer. Feel free to take the opportunity to insert Mensah into the books where she wasn't originally.

MB and Mensah deals with public relations by Poots

(Any rating; romantic or platonic) You know how in Home, Mensah was startled by a journalist and MB scared him away? And in All Systems Red, MB shouldered a reporter off Pin-Lee (which probably doesn’t look great)? How is MB dealing with the public-facing nature of Mensah’s job? What if they’re swarmed by reporters? Maybe having a whole crowd descend on Mensah freaked MB out a little, even if Mensah warned it beforehand. What if Mensah gives Murderbot some media training post-Exit Strategy? MB was very intimidating to the journalist in Home. What if that led to ‘Mensah x Secunit question mark? 🤨’ or ‘All about Planetary Admin Mensah's hot new security’?

this is true and all. but also never stop talking about your ship because if it’s what makes you happy then you can and should talk about it for yourself and your own enjoyment too.

there’s nothing wrong with the tweet in the screenshot, but I feel like we’ve forgotten that shipping and fandom are first and foremost for ourselves and our own enjoyment, not if the ship is popular or if there’re enough people shipping it.

Guess who's back, back again???

I have a vision: a world where we can read about polycules and complicated relationships with four or more people until our eyes hurt and our hearts can't take it anymore. Last year, our collection reached 100 works! Can we do better this time around? (I sure hope I do, on 2025 I didn't even finish my own card lol)

Let me introduce: the 2026 Four or More Bingo!

This is a low-stakes, personal challenge. There's no penalty for not finishing or running late.

Cards will be given from now to December 31st. Fills can be posted starting June 1st to AO3, DW or tumblr forever.

GUIDELINES

Any medium! Any rating! As long as your work focuses on a relationship with 4 or more people, it's allowed!

All works must be your own and not previously posted. AI generated works will be deleted from the collections.

You may combine these with other events, as long as the other event allows it (examples are @polyamships polyartober, lyricaltitles challenges, etc). Yes, that means you can combine this with our 2026 Pride Event as well!

Small fandoms welcome!

MEDIUM SPECIFIC GUIDELINES

Minimum wordcount for fics is 100 words. There is no maximum

Minimum for art is a sketch on unlined paper (figure sticks allowed!). There is no limit to the quality or effort you want to put in your fills.

Minimum for moodboards is a 3x3 grid (9 images individually or edited in one image). Maximum is given by the place where you decide to post. On tumblr, the maximum is 20 images, but on AO3, you're free!

Minimum for podfic is a 100-word fic. There is no restriction on maximum length or sound effects.

Minimum for fanvids is 30 seconds. There is no maximum.

Other mediums don't have a minimum. Do you want to make an in-universe magazine for your ship? A cross stitch pattern? A sculpture? Go ahead and do it! I look forward to all the things you can create.

Your wife is traumatized, unwilling to talk about or address this trauma, and now has a co-dependent relationship with a rogue SecUnit

You and the family are really trying not to hold the 'rogue SecUnit' thing against the Rogue SecUnit. Not its fault. But it is sarcastic and glares a lot and is non-social and has installed literal spydrones everywhere. It's willing to kill anyone who hurts your wife or her extended family. This is, to put it bluntly, a bit of an Adjustment for everyone.

Your wife decides to retire from being a planetary leader. One one hand, you think it's a good idea for her to take the time to focus on her mental health and be with her loved ones. On the other hand, it's concerning all of this has made her give up one of her passions.

One of your older children is going on her first off-planetary survey. This is good, obviously :) It's just. you are all still stressing from the trauma of your last family member's planetary survey.

It's fine. It's going to be fine. Your brother-in-law is going to be with her, and a bunch of your wife's long-standing colleagues, and-- you have complex feelings about this-- the SecUnit. it will be fine.

It is not fine.

The SecUnit and your brother-in-law and your daughter have all been kidnapped by a mysterious force for mysterious reasons.

Now your wife-- who is meant to be on indefinite mental health leave-- is off to save them.

You and your third partner want to go with her. You want to. But you have no skills for this, and family at home you need to care for. So you stay on the sidelines, waiting, waiting, waiting.
