I’ll note that this is a private hospital, but there was an NHS hospital that enabled a trans-identifying man to rape a woman on its wards, and then lied to the police to further harm the victim, and protect him and themselves, by saying that there was no ‘man’ on the ward and therefore the woman’s report was false.

frequently I’ll be talking to my therapist about some happening in my life that’s root origins can be traced back to the sociopathic malicious savage nature of men and she’ll give me a chiding look and insist that Not All Men are like this until I relent and tack on the addendum that sure, I guess, there are indeed a handful of not so bad ones out there. but every time it strikes me that here is a woman that, for whatever reason, cannot and will not accept the reality of the situation. men are shit, point blank. this is a truth. and so what if there are a few that are okay? who gives a god damn? what relevance do they have to the lives of women? I speak with older women who have borne the brunt of men’s boots on their backs for decades, who have been abused by men, cheated on by men, made servile by men, but we’re supposed to cast our eyes downward and say quietly, “well, I suppose there’s some good ones out there”? the rhetoric of Not All Men is a tactic to keep women grasping and gasping for men, so that we acquiesce to man after man in the hopes that this one, maybe this one, is among the mythical Not All Men who will finally treat us with respect. it boils down to this: when the pile of vegetables is covered in mold, are you going to pick through each one individually in the hopes of finding the one or two untouched by rot, or are you going to chalk it up as a loss and move on to more productive pursuits

and after this she started listing off just little things like how's she gets to sleep for more than five hours now, and she gets to spend time with her animals, actually go see her horses, watch tv shows!!! god I'm so happy for her but my heart is absolutely broken, she deserves nothing but the the happiest rest of days in everything she does

I agree and also think it's important to add that it's not being marketed to girls and women as a "hentai" look, more of an "anime", "e-girl", or "cute alternative" blush style. But the reason it's not on lists of "top ten makeup looks men find disgusting" is because it holds the "hentai, therefore attractive" signal in male culture.

I think she’s saying that we don’t see men as ppl the way we are for very good reasons, i.e., bc men don’t see us as ppl the way they are bc it’s extremely convenient for them and they have treated us as such. And as a result men are not going to be treated the way human beings have evolved to treat each other as evidenced by our interdependent relationship w each other from birth — i.e., w tenderness, consideration, cautiousness, silliness, thoughtfulness, fragility, patience, forebearance, etc. — bc somewhere along the line they decided that was a worthwhile tradeoff, as evidenced by just about the entire Western philosophical tradition and the trajectory of patriarchy it so neatly maps onto. They gave it up, and they’re squirming now, bc men have written into our basic socialization now for hundreds of years that they don’t need to be handled w care. That is pitiful. I completely empathize w her bc I have had that same pang of pity for them many a time. Still do. And then I remember everything else lol.

idk like she had points in there but my issue specifically lies with her basically stating that the value in dating women is being a better partner to men. it’s really giving “relationships between women are just practice for the REAL thing” which is a lesbophobic mindset many women have unfortunately.
