It really baffles me how some people simply cannot grasp that being able to present to society as heterosexual IS, infact, a priviledge. Lesbians and gay men do not have the ability to happily pursue a relationship with a person of the opposite sex; the only time you'll a lesbian or a gay man with the opposite sex, is either in cases such as lavendar marriages or forced conforminity within society, both of these cases leading to unfulfilment due to the inability to have a relationship with a person of the same sex. This isn't the case for bisexuals of either gender. They have the ability to be attracted to persons of both the opposite and the same sex, giving them an advantage in an otherwise homophobic society. This isn't to say that bisexuals are not discriminated against, nor that they don't face oppression, but to acknowledge the fact that a bisexual is capable of feeling attraction to the opposite sex, and thus being able to happily live out their lives while presenting as straight to the outside world, which IS a priviledge in a world where you are shunned, oppressed, discriminated against, and even murdered, for being attracted to the same sex. Bisexuals being able to choose between dating a man or a woman is a massive advantage, as they can avoid said prejudice by simply choosing to present straight. The fact that bisexuals are forced to choose between discrimination or acceptance, though, IS also discrimination. Society will often persuade bisexuals to pursue het relationships by rewarding their conformity with acceptance, and punish them for pursuing a gay relationship by shunning them, leaving most bisexuals with a situation where they must choose to be het-partnered to get through the world "fairly", especially in highly homophobic countries where their life would be on the life otherwise. But that choice in itself is a priviledge, a priviledge that homosexuals simply do not have, and recognising that isn't "biphobia" or bigoted, it's simply a fact of life and that fact does not make bisexual suffering disappear.
Don't leave your friends and even acquaintances to go to the hospital alone. If they don't have someone already going with them and don't explicitly tell you they don't want you there, go to advocate for them. Outcomes for sick people change dramatically when they have someone else there to observe doctors (making them know they can't get away with negligence) and note symptoms from an outside perspective.
Going to the hospital is scary and even someone totally unprepared to be a medical advocate or physical support will be better than nothing, purely from their presence. You can grab food, be there with your phone to search if theirs dies, go in search of a doctor, distract them from pain or discomfort... go with them.
Zimbabwe Akashinga Rangers, all-women anti-poaching unit
These women are amazing.
Many of them are vegan. Many have survived domestic abuse and sexual assault. For many of them, this is their first-ever paid job after a life of domestic servitude in marriage. They're the only armed female anti-poaching group currently active. They've arrested hundreds of poachers just since 2017.

I made a post about male suicide a while back and got a lot of shit.
I just wanted to tell you that a friend of mine works for Samaritan health service for their suicide hotline. She told me a 'funny' story.
The majority of her time is spent screening and blocking phone numbers so that the lines are free for people who need help. Why does she have to do this ? Hundreds of times a day men would call up while masturbating, of course they would only stay on the line if the operator was female, which the majority are.
Men have always taken advantage of women's kindness and they always will. It is not our job.
Just came across this little piece of history. A relevant addition.
A peculiar period in the Samaritans helpline history involved a group of open-minded and tolerant women.
Don't men also do this to rape crisis hotline workers and DV hotline workers?
one thing i find really exciting is that we’re among the first generation of women who never marry or have children, and with that comes a completely new blueprint
in past generations, virtually every woman was relegated to wife (slave) and mother (the most thankless job in the world) by 25
we’re going to be the first generation of women who can genuinely dedicate our lives to hobbies, travel, intellectual pursuits, meaningful careers, skill building, cultural immersion, fitness, volunteering and female friendships
it’s beautiful — imagine just how much women will be able to accomplish now that we can live life for ourselves, unburdened by marriage, motherhood and a patriarch in our homes controlling us or exploiting us domestically/sexually/mentally/emotionally
and, of course, we will keep fighting until all our sisters globally are freed

I think the reason why so many struggling people balk at "it gets better" is because of how often that statement plays a role in dismissal instead of being followed by actual support. "It gets better!!! (so we don't actually have to do anything to tangibly help you improve your current situation)"
free my girl she did all that and should’ve fucking done even more
