I think DC had a complete and total progressive sweep last night. It’s gonna take a while before full results come in and instant-runoff votes are counted, but it looks like the left-most candidates are currently winning in 1) the mayoral race, 2) the city council district races, 3) the at-large council races, 4) the Attorney General race, 5) the congressional delegate race, and 6) most of the party committee seats. So far, last night was an absolute wipe-out for the city’s center-right Democratic establishment.

What power do they have compared to the federal government? From what I understand DC has always been a little weird in that regard, so I'm curious about how much of a shift this will be in practice.
