I hate to comment on something that's so far removed from me that I'm not so much backseat driving as speculating on the goings on of a completely different vehicle in another lane, but is the idea behind this season of critical role's enormous cast that there are enough to kill some off? like is it a suicide squad situation? start with 13 and see who makes it to the end?

okay so I'm gathering not

I keep hearing this season described as a "west marches" style campaign and it's like. well okay sure I guess you do have players in fairly fluid groups breaking up and reconvening. but my understanding of west marches-style gameplay is very much that it's about a.) lessening the burden of scheduling and b.) do away with the need for a GM to contrive an elaborate over-arching plot and like. okay. in the first place I simply cannot imagine that corralling 14 working entertainers (+ crew) was not a rather intensive feat of scheduling. and also we all know what actual play shows are like, of course there's an elaborate story planned with a 200 page megadoc to keep it all straight. come on now. are you playing a west marches game or do you just have 13 players.

for my money, the jagged crown is the funniest quest in skyrim because of how obvious it is that it absolutely fucking DEVOURED the devtime of the civil war quests. the way it's technically two entirely different quests that can both steal each other's endings is hilarious
