Melissa has everything she could possibly want, so why does she feel like she only needs one more thing to make her life complete? Surely she is adult enough to discover what is missing and what she needs to do to attain it, right?

What helped me write trauma better is remembering that the nervous system learns predictions. If danger used to come after quiet, calm can feel threatening. If kindness used to come with a price, kindness can feel suspicious. So healing is not just âthey know theyâre safe now.â Healing is the slow, annoying, deeply unfair process of teaching the body that the old prediction is not always the present truth.

Is it socially acceptable to use opaque watercolors, or is that considered gouache?
Last night I dreamt I was playing FFXIV and the duty roulette placed me in a PUG with a Big Time Tumblr Player whose well-known character is easily identifiable. I recognized them. I said nothing.
Duty begins.
We all know this fight save for the sprout. Seven of us are on autopilot while guiding the sprout to the safest spots to stand.
BTTP calls me out in chat. "BRD, you're The God Thief, right? On Tumblr?"
Me: "Yes, I am. Whaddup?" (Because how are you supposed to handle when Senpai notices you?)
What followed was a mostly uninterrupted chat about identity, public faces, when others mistake sincerity for "doing a bit" and vice versa, and where the line dissolves between a game character and a safe exploration of personal identity and mores.
While the End Boss did their ultimate (that we all were prepared for and stacked our buffs on the undergeared sprout), BTTP asks if I'm going to post this encounter.
Me: "Likely not. This is a very personal discussion and I don't want to put you on the spot."
BTTP: "But Keri, I thought you wrote about your dreams. When did you stop? I liked reading about them. They gave me room to consider things myself."
The End Boss's ultimate dropped and smothered us with darkness. In the darkness, there was the sound of the snapping of fingers. Just once. Sharp as an awl and just as piercing. The sound made me snatch my headphones off my ears.
I was suddenly aware that I was seated at my computer and that I was playing FFXIV and that I was so engrossed in the game again that I was experiencing it as if in first person.
I was suddenly aware that there were no dungeons, trials, or raids where this combination of mechanics and boss effects happened. Not in any that I have unlocked.
I was suddenly aware that I wasn't seated at the computer as Keri the Human, but as my character. My tail curled around the edge of the chair with full tactile sensation.
And still, the screen remained black.
From the headphones, a voice. "Azem. Azem. Listen to me. If only for one last time."
I put the headphones back on. They were made for human ears but I was able to angle them just right to hear the voice clearly.
"Azem. Remember. Remember that you once lived. Remember that you still do. Stories may fade but they do not truly end until they are forgotten. I will remember for you until you remember yourself."
Another finger snap. The sound runs through me like a lightning strike. I flinch and blink.
When I open my eyes, I'm just Keri, sitting in front of the computer. On the screen, my character is standing alone in the Aetherial Sea, the same place that the character selection screen comes from. The duty is complete.
From behind my chair, a hooded figure in a flowing black robe places a black gloved hand on my shoulder. They sigh in an annoyed way.
"Must you always be so stubborn. I give you the easiest of hints and still you are determined to remain ignorant. So be it."
They snap their fingers.
My bedside alarm startles me awake.
Bitches!!! Several co-workers and I all just left a very unhealthy job (at least 5 of us all left lol). I sent your article âThe Resignation Checklistâ around to everyone before we did. This is a message my co-worker sent me- she went over the checklist and realized she had PTO that wouldnât have paid out and used it before she left!!! I used the checklist myself and before I left: quit at the beginning of the month to get an extra month of insurance, am going for a physical and dental cleaning, went and got an eye exam and new glasses through my vision insurance, made sure my 401k was vested, and redeemed some company rewards points for a gift card! I especially would never have thought about new glasses without your list and am so excited for them. Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you and that your article was a hit with my work friends- thank you!!! <3
OH HONEY!!!! Damn this brings tears to our eyes. We're so thrilled for you and your coworkers!!! It's a huge honor to know that we helped you guys out in your quitting journey.

'And The Worms Will Come For You' by @jack-of-crowns
When the JÄŤ ZhÇ had been built, and by whom, were no longer the most pressing questions that the Ministry needed answers for. The how of weaving the disparate threads of shĂkĹng together so that starfaring vessels could be compressed and unspooled throughout the galaxy was now well understood. The issue was that these threads of the tapestry were frayed; cast into the WĂş and the mechanism of the Loom could not catch ahold of enough dark matter to anchor the transit. The Spectrum of Chaos was out of balance, and it had fallen to Minister LĂ LĂn to re-open the ancient ways.
A needle to pull; a bobbin to wind. The ZhĂłu had been Their solution. Now it would be humanityâs.
He floated at the starward base of the Spindle in his Manifest 5-Clawed LĂłng void shell, all wreathed coils of hyperdense carbon scales. Kilometers of dark, tapered spire drifted inertly toward the emptiness when the tip should have been directly oriented toward the blazing halos of blue-violet that rang about the ultimate anchor; a neutron star. Where the baryonic howls of HĂšndĂšn roared the loudest, shattering the crystalline threads of Qi which bind the darkness together; the Weavers had driven a stake into the quicksand of spacetime.
But that gravity tether had slipped. The ZhĂłu no longer pulled a straight thread from the cosmic web; it dragged across the Spectrum of Chaos, catching on the ragged edges, the selvage of the unmanifest. If the drift reached three degrees, the transit line would snap. An entire star system, dissolved in static. Every scale on LĂnâs suit thrummed as the magnetic tide swept past at a quarter of the speed of light. The access panels for the alignment engine were frozen shut, clogged with condensed slag. He kept his voice inside the fluid-filled shell low and rhythmic as he worked, reciting engineering mantras as liturgy, trying to find wĂş wĂŠi under twenty tons of degenamite armour. ShĂkĹng crawled, sllkworms slowly devouring the mulberry leaves of the present. At last the panels blew open.
Every movement a calculation against resistance. The pulse of the dead sun was the meter of his chant. He had to wait for the exact moment of alignment with the Spindle's drift. that perfect moment of systemic balance. His armatures locked into the priming cylinders and fired the charge, and and a blinding bolt of pure force shot from the tip, piercing the heart of the neutron star. Order had been brought to bear once more, gravity's adoration as sung in shimmering rings of light, a recursive script of celestial sheet music serving as the score of a dying god being brought back to life. In that moment LĂn was no longer a man in a metal suit; he was one with the JÄŤ ZhÇ, perpetual flight through the gulfs of spacetime, a moth given wings at last. Moments of complete realization, yet he knew he was no Immortal. He knew his role, as surely as he knew that the worms would someday come for him.
