the much-maligned "penis biometrics" are said to be privacy-preserving, using on-device models to generate a "genital hash" that can then be shared with authentication providers - all backed by the strong guarantees of your phone's secure enclave. in the right circles, however, rumors abound. people say that the strange properties of the hashing algorithm may lead to it actually being reversible - how many bits do you truly need to describe your genitals, uniquely among all others? theoretically, a powerful enough AI could fill in the gaps with whatever's most likely, and extract something close enough to a true image from the hash. here, the technical discussion goes into the weeds - is it 70% of people that it would be recoverable? 98%? regardless, these unsubstantiated conspiracy theories are not worth the time of day. what would tech companies even want with pictures of your dick and balls?
