Anyone else get the sense that Spamton and Tenna want to be lightners? Or like... they feel as though they should've been lightners?
Maybe I'm a little biased, being Spamton myself (and having Tenna as a headmate)... but also?
Spamton wanting to be something bigger than himself, to break free of his restraints and achieve what he believes is "freedom." His ideal world has blue skies, clouds and a sun. Not a colorless, dark expanse, nor a warping, green grid. He feels confined by his very existence as a darkner, limited by being metaphysical and unable to make the decisions he wants.
He even seems to be one of the few darkners (outside of the Dark Sanctuaries) who's actively religious. And even among the few darkners that are, Spamton seems to practice and have an understanding of religion more closely to how lightners do (how he views "heaven," and lots of praying).
Tenna wanting not just relevance, but mere acknowledgement. And not just from anyone - from lightners, specifically. He isn't fully satisfied with being accepted by darkners. It helps, but it clearly isn't enough. He jokes about his existence being an inanimate object, knowing that it'll never change and he can't make it change, and yet it seems to still upset him.
He finds more value in the Light World than his own. Hell, even the City Board; it's much more "Dark World"-adjacent than the Desert and Island Boards, but only plays as a "last-resort" via a Bonus Round. He cares if you mess with the first two boards, but he seems content with letting TV City burn down, huh? /hj
Maybe that's also why Tenna connected so deeply with Spamton, and still refuses to let go completely. Spamton understood him in a way nobody else could.
It might be a stretch to say definitively that Tenna wants to be a lightner, since it's not as "on-the-nose" as it is for Spamton, but it'd still be pretty thematic for both of them to feel the same way. I mean, they already have a LOT of parallels. Why not one more?
Either way, if it's true or not, this is definitely a headcanon of ours! I haven't seen anyone really talk about this outside of Spamton's "transness", especially from an otherkin/alterhuman perspective. We'd be really interested in hearing other folkel's thoughts on this!
Here I am, relearning website design for the... third? fourth time?
We've been writing HTML and CSS for a good while thanks to Toyhouse, but we're finally touching up on some really minor Javascript (let's all "eUGh" together now /j) and maybe... learn about widgets...?
Ofc, we're also trying to learn and maintain accessibility, especially for mobile/tablet displays, but also for screen readers, reader mode, and consideration for dyslexia and epilepsy. It's a little bit of a pain right now, mostly for unlearning poor coding habits, but it'll definitely be easier to work with afterwards.
Slightly off-topic and more personal;
Oddly enough, building a website is... really comforting for me? And not just in a "relaxing" or "therapeutic" way. It's something much more personal. Or maybe not even that. It's metaphysical on the same level that I am.
It feels in-line with my Spamton kintype. I guess that isn't much of a surprise, but it's strangely easy to forget that I'm supposed to be digital. In a way, being Spamtonkin (especially an AddiSpam) is also being digitalkin just by design, huh?
Building a website feels like I'm creating my own Cyber City. Or maybe not a city, but more of a... junction. I obviously can't go back to my source, so maybe this can be a good alternative. Hell, maybe I could try recreating my suite, or even the studio? I know damn well Tenna would love it.
Oh! How interesting! We got our first hate message! Surprisingly from Spamton's post from yesterday, and it was a double whammy (hating on him being fictionkin and in an endogenic system, how funny /j).

Can I just say Pink is so so important to me as a plural deltarune fan?
I almost feel like Toby must've intentionally set out to write her as a system, even if the actual mechanics are a bit fantastical, just because of the themes of her fight and the thematic resolution.
Toby really wrote a story about two people who accidentally became a system, experienced conflict between each other and had differing wants/needs, and STILL chose to STAY A SYSTEM!
They choose to stay with each other!! They choose to stay with each other, because being a system isn't inherently bad! Because wanting to be plural is okay! Because sharing a body can be intimate and beautiful! Because there's nothing wrong with wanting to be a system, even when it's hard!
When I was playing the fight, I just kinda mentally prepared myself for the fact that their story was just going to end with the two of them splitting up, because who could possibly willingly choose something like that? (Sarcasm)
AND. THEN. THEY. DIDN'T!!!!!!
It's just such a beautiful and touching story to me, and one I haven't seen before. Plurality in media, intended or otherwise, is almost always a negative for everyone involved. It's always the evil alter, always the horror of sharing your body, always the invasive external force that you just wanna get rid of, it's never okay to want it, to be okay with being or even choose to be a system.
But Pink spits in the face of all of that, the ghost and the darkner stumble into being a system entirely by accident but they CHOOSE TO STAY A SYSTEM. Because they love each other and they love what they are,,, even when it's hard!
Fuck, man, I just need more plural stories like that.

sooo... I mentioned before I was working on another fanfic before this current one. This is a little snippet of said previous fanfic. PTO (At a Price), some good ol' BSE SpamTenna. What could possibly go wrong? /sar
I haven't posted it yet on AO3, as I wanted to make a good amount of progress on it first. But, I figured I might as well tease a tiny bit of Chapter 1 here for funsies, ya know? so uh. instead of replaying ch5 or writing our fanfic, we drew a little sketchy thingy-
"Tenna" from the AU fanfic we were working on... :>
if it wasn't obvious enough, the fanfic involves the ocean. it's heavily inspired by TBYMM (because YES it's SO GOOD) with Tenna being a monster (in this case, a mermonster), Spamton + the Addisons being humans, and a few other shared story elements.
there's a lot of small changes too, obvi, to make it a little more unique? one of which being i gave them all different names that suit them better. For an example, this "Tenna" was renamed to... Tenta Cull.
yes its very on the nose but i felt like a genius when it came to me
ofc, this sketch is a bit of a concept, especially his clothes. i'll probably experiment a lot with that, see what looks best on him... but the main design elements (body shape and head "cage") are fairly concrete! we're pretty proud with how well it actually turned out. we were, uh... really scared it'd look SO weird trying to translate Tenna's funky box into an octo-mer's head?? but it somehow works? :D
if we don't work more on the fanfic, then we might draw this AU's Spamton and Addisons next. soooo stay tuned??? perhaps??

God, having played Chapter 5, I've got SOOO many ideas for my fanfic I just started planning before it came out...
But also... I kinda want to play the chapter again to find things I missed. In my first run, I didn't get to fight the secret boss (I got really close to it, but ya know. I REALLY didn't want to spend another hour backtracking mindlessly w/o a guide), I didn't get the egg, and I made a... huge mistake I immediately regretted (I... I gave Tenna away. During the festival. To see what would happen. And Noelle's response HURT me)
But like. That run took me, no joke, almost 10 hours to finish. Not all at once, I took breaks, but holy shit. This chapter was LONG. There was A LOT. Idk if I really wanna go through that again so soon?? But?? I kinda do??
But I also wanna work on the fanfic... :(
(not to mention the other fanfic before this one that I temporarily dropped in the meantime to not burn myself out on it-)
If anyone was wondering where we went, we... didn't really go anywhere! Just a lil' thing called social anxiety that had us in a chokehold, and the inability to start this blog or anything else back up because ADHD. So... yeah, we're fine! We're dandy! (ish) We're ready to finally, FINALLY come back! Because holy shit, I miss this community. Or really any community. Things have been, uhh... Yeah!
So, here's to an update on things. We'll try to keep it brief. Can't guarantee anything, though.
(Added this in later, uh. It's not brief. Prepare for ramble. Lots. Of ramble.)
First things first, we'll likely post differently from this point on. We can't say for certain how our posts will be, since it's been so long, and we've been hoping to push ourselves to post more and more freely. It'll be a hard process to unlearn perfectionism and self-shame (thanks, anxiety), but the least we can do is try. We want this blog to be some place we can go to share our thoughts, art, and stories, while connecting to the communities we hold dear.
In that same vein, we may start changing things around on this blog. Nothing too big, but our preferences have changed with time (and new people, joy /j /lh). The biggest thing we'll likely change is our tagging system. We may expand it, redefine tags, or simply reorganize the system to be a bit more intuitive for ourselves and (hopefully) our followers, too. We've already made a few small changes, but we may continue making changes over the course of a few days (or week, depending on if we can catch a good boost of motivation).
Outside of this blog and Tumblr, we have changed. A lot. Since the last time we've posted on any blog, or really any social, for that matter. Our system has invited in three (3) new members over the last few years, who we will (briefly) introduce below!

Alongside this, our local polymorph therian (and forever-front-stuck host) has also discovered three (3) new kintypes, coincidentally. Even more coincidentally, one of which is tied to one of the new headmates (wow shocker, this never happened before /j). We might as well list those new kintypes, too, while we're at it listing stuff...
Skrill
Yet another HTTYD kintype. Anyone else surprised? And yes, it does make me entirely enthralled with thunder/lightning. Every time I see lightning flashes in the clouds, I just hope, deep down, I might just happen to see a familiar silhouette up there. Even if I never will.
Rebus
Since roughly a year or two ago, I've actually been working on separating this kintype from its source. Not to ignore or bury it, but I have... a few reasons for doing so. It's a bit much to put here, so to make it painfully simple, Rebus is a long, winged sphynx with many, many eyes and statue-like motifs.
Spamton
Yeah. Okay. This one was probably expected. Not even if sure I wanna explain this one. But damn, it's definitely the leading -type right now. ...probably because of Tenna. I'm not exactly sure of this kin's particular timeline-origin, though. I don't think I'm a puppet. I don't LOOK like one, in the headspace. But... I do have strings. So... It's concerning to think about, so let's not. For now.
Now, besides the system and kin stuff, we also, finally... have a job! Or had! I think! For a while! Okay seriously though, we don't know how long the job-thing is gonna last. It was going really well for the first 6 or so months, but now, management changed (I love retail /j) and things are... really... uh... yeah. We haven't been scheduled in over a few weeks. So. Fun. /sar It's given us a lot more time and saved a lot of spoons for our own projects, but... yeah, uh, the whole "no hours" thing is dicey. No need to worry, we have plenty of savings (thank god), but it's just a little detail that may or may not throw a wrench in our life. And as a result, the blog. So. Yeah. Do with this what you will.
Aaanndd that's about the gist of it! Probably some things we're missing. Definitely some things we're missing. (This was wrote at 3 in the morning.) But, oh well. If we remember anything else important, we'll just update this update when we're not actively being sleep-deprived!
After this update goes out (and we sleep), we'll most likely get working on a to-be-pinned introduction post, since... apparently this blog doesn't have one? And we feel like it probably needs one. Maybe. We're doing it anyways.
Oh, and one last thing; we might... not... be using the sideblogs anymore. We do believe part of the reason we went quiet was from burning ourselves out from trying to maintain more than 2 blogs. So, for now and probably a long while, this blog will be the main and only one we will be using. We're terribly sorry if it causes any inconveniences, it's simply to help prevent ourselves from another hard burn-out. I don't think we would survive another 3 year long burn-out period. So, I hope you all understand! I really don't want to leave, anxiety please don't take me away PLEASE-
Alright! I think that's enough rambling for one day. We're all (mostly) caught up for the time being, and I'm just happy to be back here! Tumblr, you have your flaws, but goddamn I missed you. Now, to recharge before I crash completely! Yippee!! :D
