It literally makes me want to vomit. Idk if this is tmi, but my older brother molested me as a child. The older i've gotten the more i've come to think that a substantial amount of people (mostly men) don't really have an internal sense of morality. Like there are two questions they ask themselves when deciding to do something and that is 1. will this benefit me and 2. will i face negative consequences for doing it. and that's it. No asking themselves if it negatively impacts others, just selfishness.

i dont think people can just enjoy things anymore. and i dont mean this in a "just let people enjoy things" way i mean people REFUSE to engage with and enjoy something for what it is. the way headcanons and quirky fanart and edits and aus comes before even Knowing The Basic Fucking Themes isnt enjoying something. i refuse to acknowledge it as enjoying any piece of art. it's commodification and i miss seeing blog posts that were essays abt the themes of something instead of people trying to make kwerky hcs abt how two guys can kiss. i get not everything is meant to be high art but id rather over-read something than live in the vapid hellscape of whatever people are doing in fandom these days

There are entire Reddit communities called things like "Equal Rights Equal Fights" and if you look at the content they post there, it's predominantly video clips of a woman lightly shoving a man in the chest, and he then punches her in the face hard enough to knock her to the ground. That is no equal fight, but this was never about equality. What they want is some kind of excuse to beat up a woman without consequences. They want to invent a scenario where they are somehow the hero for brutally beating a "naggy" woman.

They say ‘equal rights, equal fights’, but also conveniently ignore the fact that men rape and commit assault by an overwhelming margin compared to women. That to actually achieve ‘equal rights, equal fights’, men need to keep their hands off women or accept that, under their reasoning, women actually deserve to start beating men’s asses back in droves. Not that they actually care about this, they just want an excuse to hit women.
