I might be looking too much into things but I like the detail of Mary pulling out that chunk of concrete and using it to bash Captain Clark's face in, because to me it symbolizes her watching Clark carry his trauma with him and ultimately be consumed by it, and then looking at herself literally carrying a chunk of her trauma everywhere with her and deciding she wanted nothing to do with that shit.
