There's a lot of, frankly, toxic discourse in the trans community about whether or not you need dysphoria to be trans...
My belief is that you do not, and I think that the idea that you do need dysphoria to be trans is extremely toxic. Allow me to explain why.
First, let's define what dysphoria means. I think a lot of people who argue that "you need dysphoria to be trans" don't actually know what the word dysphoria means, since they have only heard that word used in association with gender. As a psychonaut, I have also encountered the word used in the context of drug use- for example, having dysphoria because of the effects of certain drugs. The word dysphoria is the opposite of euphoria- it is a state of extreme distress, so extreme, that is it nearly unprecedented for a person.
Many trans and non binary people experience extreme distress about their assigned gender at birth, hence they experience gender dysphoria. However, keep in mind that the word dysphoria means EXTREME distress- it's not a catch all term for any negative feeling, it's an EXTREME negative feeling.
Not every trans person experiences extreme distress about their gender assigned at birth, because, lo and behold, surprise, surprise, different people cope with those feelings in different ways- which means not every single person will necessarily experience extreme distress. That's just a fact of human psychology.
Furthermore, I think that the discourse doesn't acknowledge that gender euphoria is a thing, too. Some people discover they are trans when they experience euphoric feelings when they do things that are congruent with their subjective gender feelings for the first time.
This is why I think the "you need dysphoria to be a valid trans person" discourse is SO, SO toxic... because it implies that you must SUFFER in order for your identity to be valid. It's a very Puritanical kind mindset, where you have to suffer and pay your dues to be valid. It's super toxic.
