it's cold, awfully cold when you arrive at the southern pole.
still in your wedding gown, light blue fabric wrapped around your body, faint jingles ringing with each step.
walking beside your husband, you rubbed your hands together, trying to prevent the warmth from seeping out.
sokka looked over and chuckled, hauling your luggage with ease, "It'll be warmer inside." puff of air surrounding his face, as he effortlessly walked towards the glacial house.
his fur coat barely did anything to hide his bulk, silhouette of his muscles visible through the coat, thick and straining against the weight of the luggage.
you averted your eyes, forcing yourself to focus on the path inside.
once inside, you immediately relaxed, feeling a bit warmer, gaze drifting from one corner to another, looking through his space, now yours too.
"alma set everything up." he set the luggage down, turning around to close the door.
you recognised the name alma, the old lady that officiated your wedding, speaking of her, "where is she? it seemed a bit quiet out there." you stepped aside, letting him pick up the luggage again.
"they're preparing for the celebration." he beckoned you forward, head tilting towards the inner rooms, "welcoming cheftain's wife."
you nodded your head, eyes lingering on the thick mattress as you stepped into the bedroom, dark wooden pillars on each corner, dense curtains tied to them.
"are these for the cold?" you asked, reaching up for the curtains, feeling the thick texture between your fingers, "it's damask is good for insulation."
sokka looked at you, gaze remaining on your hands, "we don't—they serve a different purpose." he stammered, before ducking his head lower and hastily walking towards the wooden closet, depositing your personal belongings by it.
you didn't question him further, settling on the bed as he handed you a blanket, watching him meticulously organise your new home.
"so, how do you manage to stay warm then?" you chimed curiously, cocooned in thick woollen blanket, arms wrapped around your torso.
sokka glanced your way, eyes dipping lower for a fraction before they rose back up, meeting yours for a fleeting moment, "I'll show you, someday." mumbling, he went back to unpacking your luggage, tip of his ears rosy as he avoided your eyes.
the answer registered too soon, warmth blooming in your belly at the implications, suddenly you weren't as cold anymore.
