Ovo sensivel

The airbase refered to in this comic is the Lajes Airbase, located in the Terceira Island of the Azores Archipelago (its located in the Atlantic Ocean, miles west of continental Portugal (aka the country who owns the archipelago)), and its quite relevant rn because its frequently used by the United States.

The Azores, and by association, the Airbase, is in a very strategic position. Due to this, it has been historically used by the Allied forces during WWII (Of which the UK used a long lasting treaty to get Portugal, a dictatorship at the time, to let them use it. If they didn’t, the azores would’ve been invaded). And although WWII eventually ended, the US still maintained military infrastructure on the island of Terceira, even during the dictatorship AND after its end, even until our modern day.

The USAF still has an active presence in the base, and they often use it for nefarious purposes as in the case of this comic. Its already enough that the portuguese government keeps allowing the US to use our base in our territory to violate international law, as they can’t so anything without our permission, but the current Minister of Foreign Affairs keeps on bootlicking the United States.

And this comic specifically refers to the recent news that the pt government let the USAF put, not just fuel planes (used to refuel stealth fighters coming from the us directly to the middle east) or cargo planes or fighter jets as they’ve been doing for the past MONTH or so, but “assassin DRONES” in our territory. This makes us responsible, by association, for the war crimes currently being commited by the US in Ir@n.
