Everything with the Chain and the adventure is the same. All the boys have visited each other’s homes except for Wind’s. Finally, they are portaled to an island that must be Outset, based on Wind’s descriptions. However, they soon realize Wind is missing. They surmise that Wind must have run ahead in excitement to see his family. As they wander further into the island, they eventually encounter a pretty, middle-aged blonde woman. She stops to talk with them when she notices the heroes. It’s then she introduces herself as Aryll.

The boys are incredibly confused, as this is a far cry from the little sister Wind had described. They learn from Aryll that Wind died saving Tetra and Linebeck at the end of his second adventure. When they are finally portaled away from Wind’s world, he reappears with them in the next location. It turns out Wind was aware that he died but thought he was getting another chance to be a hero.

In the end, after the Chain completes their mission and heads their separate ways, individual portals open up for each of them—except for Wind. Wind understands that he has the choice to either go with one of his brothers or fade away. He chooses to go with Time, and he ends up being raised by Time and Malon. (He still goes on to participate in the War of Eras.)
