i really like the way Essek and Trent interacted though

at first Essek saw only his big experienced wizard brain operating on analytical approach and thought this is the best day of my life man

but Trent was so unhinged it turned to it is so bad i am on the brink of praying to all the gods i know of in like... a day

My boy was deadass sure that the dude who's basically dragging his own country into a war for some shady kind of reasons and who has only a couple of days before said war breaks out would be eager to do full-fledged research on the artifact that would take centuries to study. All while needing some useful results like... right now. You know, to keep his status and his head. Not to say even that Essek is some kind of official in the country that would be the opponent in this war lol

Essek's despair to save his mom caused him to be so careless it legit started his villain arc

BUT DAMN if there was some sort of sitcom with Essek and Trent working together in a lab i would absolutely watch it

i don't know why, but they give me such weird comedic duo vibes, especially because the situation they're in isn't comical at all. It's not even wholly due to them being basically "i thought i was evil but dude u are so fcked up", it's mostly due to the way how Trent is both composed, level headed, reasonabe and calculating, but at the same time somehow is absolutely unhinged, batshit crazy and tough

as Essek burns his hands with some excrusciatingly painful necrotic damage sht a little bit he's like "ow my hands hurt, time to stop", Trent is like BRING THIS SHT ON pussy I CAN TANK IT piss off

and still Essek is like, "Please be careful, you can hurt yourself", and Trent goes, "it's okay, thank you" and his hands are fckin burnt to crisp for like, fifth time, and still Essek would say "Please be careful, you can hurt yourself" for the sixth time

then, the man is like, okay bring in another dude for us to kill for tests, and as soon as my boy Essek tries to object he cuts it with and fetch some tea

i can see Trent being like "Would you like some tea, Essek?" all while looking at Essek squished against the ceiling with reversed gravity, wheezing and struggling to breathe. And Trent just like. Sips his tea.

it's so chaotic and mad, they literally be like
