it's our beloved boy's birthday!!!!!!!!!!!
I just had the worst realization possible.
In the Miraculous Ladybug universe it is canon that Jeanne d'Arc is one of the former holders of the ladybug miraculous.
This makes Jeanne d'Arc Ladybug...
...and this book canonically a Ladybug fanfiction. And do you know who else writes Ladybug fanfiction?
Exactly. Marc Anciel.
This means:
In the ML universe these two serve the same purpose, just in different time periods.
In short: IN THE MIRACULOUS LADYBUG UNIVERSE, MARC ANCIEL IS THE MODERN VERSION OF FRIEDRICH SCHILLER.
Also, did you know that Schiller's bestie Goethe could draw? Like actually pretty well?
I mean. Look at these. For the longest time I didn't even know Goethe could draw at all.
I'm only saying this, because there is someone who illustrates the stories Marc writes:
Marc's bff Nathaniel :-)
What I'm trying to say is: Marcaniel is the ML-version of Schoethe.
Something that I love is the difference between the acknowledgement of power imbalances in Karaoke Iko! vs. Famiresu Iko.
Like, I find it really funny in Karaoke Iko! just HOW MUCH they seem to forget the power differences until they don't until they do again HAHAHAHHA!!!
Kyouji acts like a cringe old man trying to be a kawaii high schooler, he's ridiculous, and then he'll do shit like beating a man in front of the 14yo middle schooler he kidnaps two times per week and he's serious for the first time in this damn manga and you KNOW he understands the FEAR he has put on this poor kid, and then he will spend the rest of the manga whining "Satomi-kuuuuun" and being moe as if he wasn't a fucking yakuza. Killing him with my mind.
BUT THEN YOU HAVE SATOMI!!!
Satomi, who KNOWS this man is a yakuza, and still spends every time they're together roasting him verbally and tearing him a new one and making faces calling him cringe, but then you have that moment where he gives Kyouji a recommendation of songs to sing and HE ACTUALLY THOUGHT KYOUJI WAS GONNA BEAT HIM UP bc for a minute he remembered this man is a YAKUZA and he feels FEAR, and then he spends the rest of the manga still going around in this man's cars and being rude at him! INSANE!
And then you go to Famiresu Iko, where they are completely aware of those power imbalances and it eats them alive while somehow still being partly ignorant to the whole of it, and it is not funny anymore but more like multiple "Psychic Damage Attacks -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1"
someone reminded me of satomi's love for takoyaki so i went back to finally reread the extra chapter (i usually skip it because i just want to jump straight into the kyosato stuff lol) and satomi is so cute about it
like here he is saying "he's fine with anything" when his dad asked what he wanted, and then immediately gave his dad instructions on how he want his takoyaki served
he is so snobbish about it too 😂😂😂 but then got distracted when he saw a mascot on stage 😭
mind you, satomi didn't see wada for years but this was the bulk of their convo:
OKA SATOMI, BREAKING HEARTS SINCE MIDDLE SCHOOL 💔
anyway, i wonder how kyouji found out about satomi's love for takoyaki because he loves teasing him about it
did satomi went on 5-hour rant about how tokyo takoyaki is just inferior to the osaka ones?
did satomi just casually mentioned it one time but kyouji being kyouji locked and loaded the shit in his two braincells named oka and satomi respectively and then just kept bringing it up because he's an IRL troll?
did kyouji just noticed on his own because satomi had food orgasm that one time they had a takoyaki date off screen?
whatever it is, i love that kyouji knows that satomi LOVES takoyaki. i just know he'll do his very best to buy him the best ones whenever satomi's craving for it in the future 😊😊😊

Random Chapter 1200+ Realization (SPOILER WARNING):
I just realized that our bestie trio, Kanna, Gakane, and Yuder, are all technically born from noble bloodlines. Kanna, though illegitimate, was born from a Count (piece of shit). Gakane comes from the line of General Jureli Bolunwald, even if the family title is technically only in name now. Yuder's blood relations, the Caspirl's, come from a noble mage lineage that directly serves the imperial family.
And yet, they've all lived lives as commoners and shown great prospects outside of the lineages they were born into. It really comes to show how flimsy and unreliable the aspect of discrimination against commoners is in this world. It's no wonder that 99% of Kishiar's subordinates are commoners. Titles and nobles have no place when it comes to competency and effort in the workplace.
I keep thinking about 20 year old Yuder, who's wanderlust made him dream for a new opportunity outside of his 20 year long forest home. 20 year old Yuder who was too socially unprepared to talk to Gakane who approached him first and turned down any opportunity to make friends. 20 year old Yuder who was upset that people made fun of him for being unable to wield a sword and decided to train till his hands bled. 20 year old Yuder who had his first ever crush but didn't know what to do with the feelings he couldn't identify. 20 year old Yuder who didn't know how to deal with bullies properly and instead chose violence and his short fuse to break them down. 20 year old Yuder who didn't know anything about the person he loved, and why he let Kishiar cling to him despite their twisted relationship. 21 year old Yuder who kept on trying to reach out to Kishiar, but still chose not to ask anymore questions because his pride was hurt. 21 year old Yuder who was Calvary captain but still mistakenly called Kishiar "Commander". And 22 year old Yuder old who was emotionally uninvested in killing Kishiar, too overwhelmed to seal the deal, but was given no choice.
For a boy who barely entered adulthood, the dream of a new opportunity in life outside of his hometown had been crushed far too easily by the reality and cruelty of people. I find that Yuder clinging to Kishiar despite his apparent mistreatment was not only because Yuder loved him, but because Yuder had no one else on his side. At least for the peaceful time they had together, Yuder had a mentor, a person he was growing to like, and perhaps even a friend in Kishiar. After the manifestation incident, all of that was taken away from him. The bullying and rumors also had no helping hand in Yuder's distrust in people. After Kishiar's death, Yuder's emotions died alongside him.
That's why even as current Yuder is around 32 years old mentally, I find his emotional state to be still at 20 years old. In this life, he finally has a chance to understand what his emotions are and experience what normal life should've been like for him; making friends, spending time with people, eating delicious food, receiving gifts, giving gifts, investing in his hobbies, discovering new emotions, and understanding what was hidden inside him this whole time: his capacity to love. Yuder always had the capacity to love and care. The toils of scars and time had merely wore it down. Whether it be friends, colleagues, aquantinces, or Kishiar himself, Yuder has so much love and care to give now that he has finally understood how to receive. The 20 year old inside him finally has a chance to grow up.
Enon celebrating 2026 with this new sign:
It has been (over) 500 chapters since yuder ail has last been grievously injured!!!
(someone tag me and check back on this when it inevitably changes i also have a follow up planned lmao)
I'm kinda sad the manhwa cut out this part of hoyeol being a mom in the gloomy rain london arc...

Turning Chp. 1360
I've always assumed that Kishiar's strange personality and tendencies had to come from somewhere, and based on his mother's mention in the Southern Arena Arc, I've always assumed she was the reason Kishiar is who he is. His lack of shame, lack of distaste for commoners and their activities, lack of distaste to get his hands dirty (in the literal sense), and tendency to act out of the norm. The story implied multiple times that collateral lines of important families live in more humble situations compared to normal nobles. This was the case with Faria, who was from a collateral line of the Herne family, and the former Empress, who was from a collateral line from the imperial family.
Based on the creation of childhood nicknames the former Empress made for her two sons (chp.655) and the mention her personal teaching of horseback riding to Keilusa (Chp.593), I've also assumed that she lived a life similar to that of commoners. It's nice to see in this chapter that my assumptions were correct.
Kishiar and his mother were most similar to one another, while Keilusa probably leaned towards his father's quieter tendencies. In other words, Kishiar's parents were the epitome of opposities attract. For a women who lived a free life before becoming empress, she continuously expressed herself for who she was even within the palace walls, passing down those traits to Kishiar. It is probably why the Former Emperor fell in love with her at first sight (according to Kuyu-nim), for her brusque and free attitude vastly contrasted to his sickly and quiet life.
For someone who values his family very much, I've always been curious about Kishiar's lack of mention of his parents. It's also interesting to see where Kishiar's martial art skills come from, and as extension, Yuder's martial art skills (becuase Yuder learned from 1TL Kishiar).
Reading this chapter, it's heartrendering to see that Kishiar refuses to visit his parents' graves to keep his promise to them. While we've seen Kishiar being a little brother, it's hard to imagine him being a son. It also makes me realize that he lost his parents at such a young age. He was probably around his late teens or early 20s when they passed away. Though not as young as Yuder, having his parents pass away when he wasn't with them (because he was in Peletta) must've been difficult.
This chapter also extends Kishiar's backstory to points that Yuder had never been able to know. It's honestly adorable how curious Yuder is about Kishiar now that he has the freedom to ask anything about him. I'm so happy to see how domestic they are with each other.
The unofficial translation of Turning Chp.176 has a slightly confusing usage of phrasing in one of the first lines that made me misunderstand the context of what was actually happening in the scene on my first few reads of the story (maybe it was a me problem, but it was confusing to me anyways).
This is the scene:
This scene is directly after Yuder said, "You are the only one who can command me."
Based on the wording, I thought it was Kishiar laughing confusedly after Yuder said that absolutely crazy confession, but after reading through the official Korean version, it was actually Yuder who smiled at Kishiar's stunned silence. And that silenced Kishiar even more.
And because of that, I feel robbed of the second time in the story where Yuder directly smiled at Kishiar. I don't know why this is upsetting me this much. Maybe I just want to keep track of all the very treasured moments where Yuder smiles or laughs.
I honestly believe 1TL went to shit immediately after Yuder died
Was doing some selective rereading and noticed some things, spoilers for up to ch 1130 under cut
I'd love there to be a Yuder disappearance arc. all the risks so far have been somewhat calculated and foreseeable, but a disappearance means a loss of control of the information which means Kishiar crashing out internally. i want to see the chillingly calm and firm commander Kishiar who works day in and day out trying to find Yuder's whereabouts, his usual warm smile nowhere to be found and only a cold polite smile on his face or none at all, and for all his dams to finally break the moment he finally has Yuder in his arms again at their reunion...
combined my two favorite things, Turning and dragons. I may or may not do a version with Kishiar as the dragon instead

Would you fuck your own clone? ft. some Turning manhwa cast
While I was typing about Gakane and Jimmy's conversation during the Hartan arc the other day, it really did occur to me that there is an alpha:omega ratio disparity within the Cavalry, and I began wondering why that is. Then I began wondering about the nature and origin of manifestation and why the Red Stone dishes out the types it does. And then I began thinking about "Beginning and End." And then there was Alik.
The Red Stone power seems to react easily to wishes and wills. Kishiar desperately wanted to live, so he reached out to it as soon as he saw it, and that energy gave his vessel an extra layer of protection. Elpkins was falling from a cliff and needed to fly, so he awakened as a flying creature. Ever needed to fend off a hoard of monsters and didn't have a weapon on her, so she awakened nimble super strength in her hands. Keilusa wanted to see and hear Faria one last time before he died, and he gained the ability to see and hear anybody that was near an object he inserted his power into. Just a few examples, and there are so many we could theorize about.
There's the Awakener power side of it, and then there's the omegaverse side of it. It's inherent to the Red Stone, but not all Awakeners manifest as an alpha or omega. It might have to do with proximity to fellow Awakeners, or it might be inherent to what they inherited from the Red Stone. My current theory for the Red Stone is that it's a concentration of "dregs" that the dead left behind as their souls moved on, and this phenomenon was part of the courting and mating ritual of one of the now-extinct species.
As it's a concentration of dregs, a magic or power that was inherent to one species might have been meshed together with this scent and heat phenomenon from another. Or it's only the powers that originally belonged to [insert your preferred extinct non-human species] that also inherited the heat and scents, and that's why there are Awakeners who never manifest, as their powers originally belonged to a species that didn't experience that. Or it's just sitting there concentrated as its own thing alongside everything else.
Early on in the timeline of this Red Stone phenomenon, whether one manifests as alpha or omega doesn't seem to be set in stone. Kishiar awakened and manifested at the same time, and he was recorded as the first Awakener in existence. Did he manifest as alpha because his specific power belonged to a being that was that when they were alive? Or was it something about what Kishiar was wishing for all at once while he thought he was dying and the Red Stone decided that it's what he needed to make his desires come true? Like a larger body for his vessel to work with. Or was it simply that the Red Stone noticed some dysfunction and was like, "I can fix that, you know?"
All that to circle back to why there's an alpha:omega ratio disparity within the Cavalry. Damn.
I still think when it's looked at completely neutrally, manifestation happens like the flip of a coin. If there are no particular thoughts about either result, it's anyone's guess. It changes when there's suddenly a strong will, though. As time goes on, people want to be stronger, and they see alphas growing, so they start to associate strength with "alpha." They lean towards that, desire it, and then they have a higher chance of manifesting as such. When you're a member of a military branch, having strength is important, after all.
What about those who still desire strength but don't have any particular thoughts about manifestation? You get cases like Yuder in the 1st timeline. He could have been either, but he manifested as omega. Simple enough. However, Yuder absolutely dreaded the possibility of manifesting in the 2nd timeline and he still came out as an omega.
Which brings me to the thematic motif in this story of "beginning and end." "Alpha and Omega" is a term in the real world that means "beginning and end" as well. Keeping this in mind, what if another layer to manifestation is the social and love life of an alpha, whether it's an alpha that loves someone or someone that loves an alpha?
There are two (a WHOLE TWO) examples of omega manifestation in the Cavalry: Yuder and Pruelle. (There's a woman in the Jung division that Ever danced with, but she might have already been one before joining. We simply don't know.) In both cases, there was an alpha they either admired or were close to. In Yuder's case, the alpha had a crush on him to boot. What if an omega manifestation has a higher chance of happening when an alpha is in the picture? Alpha = beginning, omega = ending. A mating pair is formed with the alpha being the front connector and the omega being the back connector. Like tying two ends of a string together to form a complete circle that symbolizes "eternity."
Now, this won't always be the case. If it were that easy, there wouldn't be such a disparity within the Cavalry because I'm sure there's room for love blooming all around there. There's also Alik, who manifested as an omega completely unprompted by the presence of a peculiar alpha, unless he has a secret admirer somewhere in the walls of the basement. It goes back to that "no thoughts, head empty" approach to manifestation.
