The AO3 Collection is now open: Voices of Glory: A QZGS Podfic Event (2026)

A 3-month long QZGS focused Podfic Event to encourage the creation of podfics within the QZGS English Fandom as requested on the TKAA Discord Server! There will be Raffle Tickets to be earned by creating podfics to put towards Raffle Prizes.

Please see the (2026) Event Guidelines, Raffle Rules/Prizes, and Resources document for the rules of the events, raffle rules and prizes, and more resources for making podics. It's the main stop and will link you to the QZGS Podfic Event Resources Drive that includes event info but also resources for creating podfics, including some amazing recordings to help with name pronunciation etc.

The Voices of Glory Carrd is honestly much less helpful but it exists as mainly for links to helpful resources (sorry I kind of gave up on trimming the info for it as I failed and was rushing.)

what do you mean a business literally selling frozen irish vanner horse semen on the internet inexplicably had a cartoon produced to advertise their semen sales and equine surrogacy, which I then bumped into on youtube in the 2010s while looking at artists' animation reels. what do you mean the real-life horse semen farm sits on top of the charred and terraformed remains of the ancient shrimp forest, which I have spent the last eight years painstakingly reconstructing from leftover scraps of wild space.

this area is home to a number of rare plants and animals adapted to the semi-wetland conditions. I study fairy shrimp, which survive the dry periods as eggs and hatch in response to seasonal rain. they can survive drought and wildfire no problem, but cannot survive habitat modification. At least three species only live in central Florida, and one is potentially extinct. probably more species are hiding in other parts of the US south like Georgia and Alabama, but not a lot of people are looking for them, and obviously there's very little money in it.

Here is an adult Dendrocephalus proeliator, a central Florida endemic species which I co-described in 2019:

I've been burned too many times by the academia industry to want to risk finding an advisor and doing a thesis, like I am expected to. People can be cruel and I don't want any more bad experiences. So I do research entirely on my own as a hobby. For eight years I have been tracking the shrimp in whatever little pieces of semi-natural land have not yet been terraformed. maybe someday I will be able to do more, but for now I just document what I find.

i love that the strategy game has been used as a metaphor since the early first hundred chapters:

‘The worst thing you can do when using the special piece is to get caught by the enemy before using it. You suffer a great loss.’  ’…’  'So, if I feel like my special piece is about to be exposed, I take the initiative and put it out as a bait in front of the enemy.’  'Does such an obvious strategy really work?’ To his skeptical question, a response mixed with laughter returned.  'Surprisingly, it does. Even though they think that the piece right in front of them might be the special piece, they continue to doubt because of the potential penalty that might come back if it isn’t. It works especially well on those who believe that the more openly revealed, the less valuable it is. To save something, sometimes such a ruthless method of putting it at the forefront is necessary.’

and

'But from the point of view of the special piece, wouldn’t it be considered cruel? It’s supposed to be a piece that’s treated preciously and takes up the most important part of the board, after all.’ Yuder doubted for a moment whether Kishiar might be drunk. Was he really saying that the hard stone-made piece used in the game was pitiable? 'Firstly, it’s not like we asked for the consent of the piece when choosing the special piece. How to use it is up to the person playing the game.’ 'That’s true.’ 'Knowing that, why are you asking? Did you suddenly develop a fondness for the stone-made pieces?’

It's so interesting to me that at the time, Yuder completely missed the metaphor that he was the special piece to Kishiar: someone Kishiar put in plain sight, in the spotlight even as the new commander, to paradoxically hide how important he was to Kishiar. And Kishiar was planning on using Yuder for his goals at first but then also developed Real Feelings.

But now in these chapters Yuder chooses to use the game as his own metaphor. I feel like this choice reflects how much more he understands Kishiar and the ways Kishiar communicates now compared to his previous life.

I WOULD LOVE TO PROVIDE YOU MORE META but also it's late and i'm scared of spoiling you but mae please share all ur turning thoughts i will love and gobble them all up thank you

I thought the the strategy board game setup was so elegant, from a narrative/story construction perspective. It's in character for two men who respectively A) do not emote or B) wear 1 million masks to have this sort of understated conversation for The Reveal. Really emphasizes the tacit understanding between them! But like, it's 1000% tastier after you pointed out this connection to the earlier chapters! I totally forgot about it!

This was the line from Kishier that really set my brain on fire:

"Well, as far as I can see, the 'me' from back then was neither a good beginning nor a good ending for you."

Because! What a thing to say about your alternate timeline self! I feel like I'm back solving a math equation to try and figure out the clues Kishiar saw to draw that conclusion! Short & incomplete list includes:
