i've always felt most comfortable surrounded by trees. grass. moss. three years ago we moved into our dream homne, after living in new york, in a rental on 30 acres, back to an urban space, this time in a brownstone directly across the river from new york, and in a rental farmhouse before finding our forever home. we lived in some lovely places, but none of them felt right. i always sought escape, scared to put down roots in a place that didn't feel permanent. our home is our sancuary. over 7 acres of river to wade in, forest to explore, fields for dogs, chicks, ducklings and wild-children, a few out-buildings that could be future art-studios / home offices, or outdoor kitchens and potting sheds. the house is hundreds of years old, with crooked floors and teeny bedrooms. there's a new kitchen, and some years ago they attached a "great roomn" which is where we spend most of our time playing and making a mess. and right now, it's a mess of books and half-finished projects, soil my two year old stole and sprinkled throughout the house annnnnd a giant cardboard city. like right when you walk in. i love it. i have a notebook of ideas for inside and out, and im taking it slowly. i've only planted herbs and wild-flowers, choosing to ready gardening books all-over while recording which places get shade and sun. my patience has worn off, and i grew a ton of lavender, chamonille, yarrow and..i could go on. there's moss growing in every nook, and i grind up a milkshake to make more. and so, the house has inspired the maker in this mama. the idea to open a small online & offline shop after so many folks asked why the heck i hadn't already. most of these were people who were gifted terrariums, spell jars or lovely trinket boxes of charmns and crystals for whatever reason. and so i took the plunge. am, i should say, taking the plunge. poppies and sage will be open in the next few weeks. im going to use this space to talk about what i make + homesteading + unschooling annnnd to hawk my spell-jars, terrariums, and witchy mama herbal magics. stay tuned.
