Asterleaf was a long-lived senior herbalist during a very violent time of ThunderClan.

He was one of the best during his time, suffix gifted to him for his advanced skills in spiritual and medical subjects. He's good with cats of all ages, firm with his instructions, and not mean. Cats gravitate to him and he often found himself carrying their emotional baggage. He's incredibly smart and tactful.

Asterleaf loves his Clanmates dearly. Every drop of loyalty and respect goes out to them and then to himself. He is very aware of the power he holds as an herbalist and the respect he has, and Asterleaf has no shame in using it to his advantage or to the advantage of others -- he does whatever he thinks is right.

Asterkit was born to a first-generation StormClan father and ThunderClan mother alongside his littermates, Campionkit, Alkanetkit, and Loverskit. Alkanetkit died suddenly two months into their kittenhood.

He was always closest to his parents. Of course he loved his littermates, but he'd spend more time with Loamfur and Ashblaze. They loved their kittens all the same.

Through his life, he showed no interest in his WindClan blood -- only apathy, any curiosity was snuffed out early. ThunderClan was all he knew and outsiders were frowned on.

Going into his apprenticeship, Asterpaw worked his rear off. He had heavier expectations on him as an herbalist and had to work extra hard to prove himself.

The winter of the year he earned his full title, Asterleaf's mother, Loamfur, fell ill. She was amongst several cats in a small but brutal outbreak of distemper (feline panleukopenia.) Asterleaf was out gathering material at the request of his mentor, who wanted him to take a break from the patients, as he was clearly freaking out, when Loamfur passed away. Asterleaf was left troubled when the outbreak ended. Every cat who contracted distemper died. Recovery took months -- he had cats there for him and came to a better understanding of what being there for others can do.

Asterleaf would be roped into demonics, helping cats get out of dangerous situations, murder, Codebreaking, and many other things. He simply holds his head high and feels the weight of age on his bones. His time is coming and only when it comes will he face consequences. He knows how to cover things up. He knows what bad things he's done, and he regrets none of it.

One cat who regularly orbited around him was Sunbird, who started showing up as a young warrior. Over the years, she stuck near him, and he was receptive to her angry rants. Little nods and grunts wouldn't shake her off, so he got earfuls of hatred and Clan pride. Asterleaf finds himself annoyed, but able to tolerate her. Sunbird has definitely told him, "You're one of the good ones, Asterleaf." Asterleaf knows full well that Sunbird is talking about how he's good despite his outblood. He frowns and nods.

Oakstar would eventually die near the end of the Five-Clan War. ThunderClan went from one tyrannical warlord leader to another. This time, Asterleaf was roped into the deaths of cats Birchstar saw as a threat to her leadership. Asterleaf figured covering up the murders and ensuring cats listened would keep more safe in the long run -- and Birchstar would intimidate him into submission if he showed any hesitation or refusal.

When Birchstar died and Lionstar rose to power, Asterleaf felt a deep sense of relief. Lionstar, while flawed, was not a complete tyrant. He never legally retired, but he slowed down on duties and allowed his younger denmates to take a majority of the duties. Asterleaf would eventually decline and pass away.
