Publix Supermarkets have started selling cookies they’re calling macarons for $2/ea in their bakeries. Publix is generally a good company but they have greedily replaced some of the almond flour with wheat flour making these both cheaper for them to make with a higher profit margin and a risk for those of us who can’t eat wheat since they aren’t labeling these as containing wheat even though actual macarons aren’t made with it. The guy I talked to at the counter was practically non-verbal and sulked through looking up the ingredients for me so don’t expect staff to know any better or be upfront about it.
