Here I am, once again laying back and taking on the #shoulder #press. This is my first time to press with those big blue monsters on the bar, so that would make this 60kg, 132 lbs, and this is my 3rd set of 5 (or #fahve if you’re in the know). # So a few things. One, I’m not trying to do a layback, and I’d love to be moving straight up and down. I’m not there yet, and you’ll never see this sort of layback on my warmup sets. But as the weight goes up, it happens. The weight still went up, though, and as I’m pretty certain that’s the point of #startingStrength, I think that Rip would approve. # Two, despite what many would say (because they’ve been told and just believed the thing outright), this isn’t relatively dangerous. Between the #Valsalva maneuver keeping a nice thick pocket of air pressure around my spine, and ensuring that I’m not rotating my back at any point, I’m perfectly safe here. It ain’t fun, but that’s not the point. # Once again, I’m trying to get #strong, by lifting maximal weights with the greatest useful range of motion.
