So, I've been wondering about Uroro and his trial.
In a world full of magic where, for at least thousand years, only women could use magic, why would Uroro even exist?
What would be the point?
One of the fundamental rules of this world is that every Majik can be acquired by someone. As long as you meet the requirements, you can acquire the Majik. That's just how it works.
But for a thousand years, Uroro was the exception. Why?
After Ichi falls unconscious during his first encounter with the World Hater Majik, he finds Uroro in his Inner Circle.
The way time works in Inner Circles is ambiguous at best, but given how WHM looked at Ichi as Ichi was talking about hunting them, it's implied this conversation took place during the fight itself.
And right after WHM leaves, Uroro tells Ichi that he's going to become a sacrifice.
Uroro immediately tossed Ichi out after that, and suddenly Ichi is waking up in a bed, 3 days later. Kumugi has been watching over him the entire time.
This means that Desscaras never had a moment alone with Ichi, even unconscious, after they returned to the Witch's Association.
Let's put a pin in that.
I want to quickly go over the prophecy Jikishirone gave the Association.
It says that the World Hater Majik will destroy the world, and only the person who acquires the Uroro Majik can stop them.
Until now, that was the full prophecy. However, I want to point something out.
As far as we know, the World Hater Majik only appeared 15 years ago.
And it's only after everyone returns to the Witch's Association that Jikishirone tells Desscaras, Monegold, and Togeice about the second part of the prophecy.
Because she literally only just received it.
Again, we can't quite tell the exact timeline here - but it seems like she received the prophecy the day after the fight with WHM.
And again. Ichi has been with Kumugi the whole time.
There was no point where Desscaras had a moment alone with him. Even if she wanted to muse about it to herself while he was asleep, she couldn't risk doing that with Kumugi right there. It's top secret information.
So, I have to wonder.
How did Uroro know that Ichi was going to become a sacrifice, when not even the prophecy Majik knew about it until after his first encounter with the WHM?
Let's review the facts.
Uroro has existed for at least a thousand years.
The World Hater Majik only appeared 15 years ago, as recorded by the Witch's Association.
Jikishirone only recently received the full prophecy regarding them, and how it was going to require someone to die to save the world.
Uroro somehow knew about Ichi becoming a sacrifice before Jikishirone did.
Uroro cannot be acquired by a woman.
Did Uroro come into existence, knowing that one day, this would happen? Or at least, the potential of it? And did he think that, because only women can acquire Majik, this was a scenario that could never actually come true?
Uroro has met the WHM before.
If we assume that the WHM only came into existence 15 years ago, and wasn't just lying in hiding the whole time before that, then...
Uroro is terrified by a Majik that's only been around for a mere fraction of his own existence.
And as of the recent chapters, we can see how powerful he is.
But, that prophecy...
It says that the WHM will twist all living things into unliving abominations, and when none are left, the world will reach it's end.
I have to wonder.
Where do Majiks fall in the definition of "all living things"? Do they count as living? Does that prophecy imply that the WHM will kill all Majiks too, or...?
Clearly they don't mind killing and destroying their fellow Majiks, if their threat to Uroro here is any indication. But that's mostly just speculation.
Anyway, back to the question at the beginning of this post-
Why would a Majik come into existence, that can't be acquired by women, be aware of the specifics of a prophecy involving him, that won't be known until a thousand years later?
Uroro is self described as the King of Majiks, and the Master of all Magic. And as far as we know, this is 100% true.
Is the reason why women can't acquire him because he's a King? A traditionally male position?
Is the reason he came into existence 1000 years ago because he needed to live in a world that believed, without a shadow of a doubt, that only women could acquire Majik? Thus, regardless of if Uroro knew if they could or not, no man would ever even attempt to complete his trial?
Is the reason his trial is so different from the others because fate knew he would encounter Ichi, a man who would ignore all reason and hunt Uroro anyway? Or was fate just waiting for the right man to come along and challenge the status quo?
After all, the prophecy doesn't actually say who will be victorious at the end. It depends entirely on the actions of the person who acquirs Uroro. Both Ichi and World Hater have the potential to either save or destroy the world. It's, relatively speaking, an even playing field.
And Uroro's trial is fairly simple to beat, so long as you're a man.
And if fate, or destiny, or whatever - is going to play this game of life and death with the entire world- wouldn't it just be fair to create a set of standards and tests that only the exact right person could pass, in the exact right situation, at the exact right moment, at the exact right time, who could become the only person in the world with the potential to beat the World Hater Majik?
"It's widely believed that men can't use magic."
What if Ichi isn't the exception to the rule that only women can acquire Majiks?
What if Uroro is?
And any man could have completed his trial, at any moment in time, had they even bothered?
And Ichi was the only one crazy enough to try?
Because the circumstances that led to Ichi being the one to acquire Uroro were so heavily specific, only someone like him could, and he just happened to be the one who fulfilled the requirements and try?
Hmm.
Also, side note.
According to what we know, The World Hater Majik first appeared 15 years ago.
We don't know how old Ichi is.
Is Ichi 15 years old? Could there be a connection between his birth, and the WHM coming into existence at the same time?
