vol. 1: ichi

european (or common) yew, taxus baccata. known in japanese as "イチイ(ICHIi)", yew is one of the (five) sacred trees of celtic mythology (as well as the sacred tree of the goddess hectate (goddess of witchcraft, among other things), yew is associated with death and immortality alike. the celtic connotations are amplified by the fact that ichi comes from druid mountain. (lots to chew on here in context of the symbolism of the yew but as i said, i'm not doing that rn)

strelitzia is also known as "ストレリチア (sutoreRICHIA) so if richia ever gets a cover for herself, we can expect it to feature strelitzias as well.

Peaceful Labour Demonstration Met with Violent Escalation by the Indonesian Government

Civilians in several cities in Indonesia have been protesting on the streets, in response to our House of Representatives insensitive and derogatory remarks amidst difficult economic climate.

It was supposed to be a peaceful demonstration led by laborers and university students, but our government choose to ignore and even violently escalating it with police brutality + shooting tear gas. What sparked a nationwide outrage was during 28 August protest in the evening, one of the armored police/soldier truck sped up intending to run over protestors and it struck over a Gojek driver (ride hailing driver, similar to Uber) that fell when crossing the road amidst the chaos. The truck did stop but decided to ram the gas and ran over him when he's trying to stand, with other protestors shouting for them to stop.

The Gojek driver's name is Affan Kurniawan. He's just 21 years old, the breadwinner of his family. He lived with seven other people in a cramped small rented room. He was not even participating in the demonstration, at the time of his death he was WORKING. He was trying to complete a food delivery order before he was killed.

This incident was documented clear as day with several videos from different povs. Here's the most prominent one.

In response to Affan's death, nationwide protests are held on the following day. (29 August)

The protests continued even today on 30th August and it keeps on escalating. The government is now trying to frame the protesters as violent anarchists, they're trying to use the same tactic as the '98 tragedy. They've been deploying provocators and intels to riot and burn public transport station, even going as far as raiding several (decoy) houses that belongs to members of the House of Representatives. They've also taken several hostages, reports of kidnapping as per 28 August is 400+.

They have been turning off electricity access in several parts of Jakarta and just greenlit snipers and soldiers to shoot protestors on the head with rubber bullets. There's already several victims.

They've also blocked access to TikTok live and even tried to erase/take down several of video proof of police brutality. Police are now sweeping several areas and civilians are alerting each other to be careful and to stay safe and not answer the door.

So yes. Please pray and check up on your friend that lives in Indonesia. I fear that there's going to be a military emergency implemented by our warcrime president. If possible please help save the video proofs because our government are cracking down to erase any proof of violence.

[Very few easily understood Physics concepts ahead. I’m a bored physics teacher so I’ll try to discuss the simple concept of multiverse the way I did for my 9 y/o niece and 7 y/o nephew. They kinda understood me when I used Lambo’s case as an example so …]

Here are the five Lambos from different universes the first time they appeared in the manga. 

Let’s talk about them one by one:

1. UNIVERSE 1: PRESENT LAMBO

This is our Lambo.

This is that Lambo who was struck by Levi volta and survived; that Lambo who shielded Ryohei, Basil, and the Black Spell from Kikyou’s dinosaurs; that Lambo who befriended Ooyama and was almost killed; that Lambo who only kinda rested from the drama during the last arc.

This Lambo is Tsuna’s adopted child; I-pin’s sibling; Gokudera’s annoying younger brother; and Reborn’s toy.

In this short analysis, this Lambo and his universe, Universe 1, will serve as our singularity.

2. UNIVERSE 2: 10YL!LAMBO [MILLEFIORE FREE]

This is the weakest yet most interesting Lambo, living in the most interesting universe—Universe 2.

This is the Lambo that we meet after Lambo from U1 uses his ten-year bazooka but .. HE IS NOT THE LIGHTNING GUARDIAN OF THE VONGOLA FAMILY.

EVIDENCES:

This Lambo has no recollection of the battle for the rings against Varia and from that idea alone, we can either infer that: a.) he was too young back then so he couldn’t remember; b.) the battle for the rings did not happen in universe 2; or c.) the battle for the rings did happen but this Lambo was not chosen as the lightning guardian so he didn’t have to fight.

Among these 3, the most acceptable (at least to me) is c. And this idea is supported by the fact that 1. this Lambo is weak and he is also a coward. We know that Tsuna wouldn’t want children to fight but I have no doubts that if Lambo was under his wing, he will make sure that Lambo would at least know how to properly defend himself; 2. this Lambo never recognizes himself as a member of the Vongola family. He addresses Tsuna as young Vongola and he also had this adherence to speak about his boss and his family that is most likely not the Vongola, there’s even this one chapter where his boss gave him a toilet bowl trophy; and 3.) there are plenty of times when this Lambo still exhibits his surprise in dealing with the Vongola. All in the daily life arc.

Now let’s talk about the fate of this Lambo. The first possibility is that, after this Lambo briefly showed himself at the battle of lightning, when he got back to universe 2, he soon died in the hands of the Millefiore family. Although he is not from the Vongola, we know that Byakuran destroys all the parallel universes from TYL so this Lambo will most likely die back in his timeline and universe.

Or

This Lambo remains alive and happy with his family because he is not from Universe 1′s parallel universe but from a different parallel universe altogether.

So what’s the difference between these two parallel universes?

Let’s say there are two threads tightly entangled with one another. These two threads are mostly similar. The first thread is made up of millions of finer threads and one of those fine thread is: Universe 1. This particular thread, having millions of finer threads therefore universes, is owned by Byakuran. Now entangled with this thread is another thread. This second thread is now made up of very fine dusts. One of these fine dusts is Universe 2 where we can find this Lambo.

Again, remember that these two threads are entangled and mostly similar. There are only two differences: the raw material in which these threads are made of and that one thread has an awakened Byakuran.

Collectively, if there are millions of entangled threads instead of just two, then you have your multiverse.

Therefore technically, the Vongola people from universe 1 (from thread 1) has been unconsciously duped by a Lambo from universe 2 (from thread 2) who is not even affiliated with the Vongola family. I think they are close acquaintances though. I have this hc that this Lambo lived with the Sawadas when he was young but he did not end up being the lightning guardian. 

So who is the lightning guardian in universe 2? I don’t know and let us not go that way since there are millions of possibilities, after all.

3. UNIVERSE 3: 20YL!LAMBO (POST MILLEFIORE)

This is the strongest Lambo among all the Lambos who appeared in KHR.

This is also the Lambo who most likely needed a hug.

This is the Lambo that has to grow up fast in order to survive. And contrary from Lambo (U2), he became the lightning guardian of the Vongola family. 

In the brief moments when he appeared, we saw his maturity and the nostalgia that he had experienced after seeing again, the family he had lost. He is strong and he engaged in battling Levi not only because he’s used to it but it’s like the most natural thing to do for the Vongola family. 

Also, I may be over reacting, though he carries himself with grace, it’s as if life had been sucked out of him.

Another evidence that this Lambo became a lightning guardian is his horn. The old horn that he was looking for had his stupid cow nickname on it which was written by Gokudera moments before Lambo (U1) entered the battle field.

Now this is fascinating to note because Universe 1 and 3 are both in the first thread wherein the horns of Present Lambo and 20YL!Lambo existed. These horns are EXACTLY the same BUT at the same time different because both are from different universes. Meaning, at some point in the thread, there are two similar objects (horn) from different universes. That is why when Lambo (U2) used the ten-year bazooka, he was exchanged by this specific 20YL!Lambo instead of a 20YL!Lambo from the second thread where he came from. Does that mean that universe 1 and 3 are the same and later when present Lambo grew up he will be in universe 3? The answer is no. It doesn’t work that way because universe 1 is a singularity where possibilities of different futures are limitless according to the choices made by those people in U1. The uniqueness of this particular event is due to U1 and U3 being in the same thread.

Another fascinating thing about this Lambo, he didn’t have his Vongola ring from U3 (most likely because of Millefiore) and he didn’t have his Lightning Helm Ver. X indicating that the battle between the Vongola and Shimon possibly did not occur.

So universe 1 and universe 3 are connected, right? Yes. Universe 1 and 3 (later 4 and 5) are all parallel universes from the first thread. In this matter, the singularity is Universe 1 and without it, universes 3, 4, and 5 will not exist. But how can Lambo from universe 2 exchange himself from universe 1 if they do not even share the same threads? They are entangled. There must be a point of entanglement, a different singularity than universe 1, that allow these two universes to interact.

Lambo from universe 2 was right when tells Tsuna that the odd looking old horn is not his. It was owned by Lambo from universe 3 (thread 1).

4. UNIVERSE 4: 10YL!LAMBO (MILLEFIORE ERA)

This Lambo depicts Tsuna’s past self. It was very brief and it was just a small panel in the manga but in that brief moment, this Lambo reminded me of Tsuna from early in the series.

SEE THIS:

This is an entirely different Lambo (U2) who often exchanges with Lambo (U1). 

This Lambo, although recognized by the grownup Vongola for this era as the lightning guardian is depicted to be weaker than I-pin but he is not a coward. Unlike Lambo (U2) who cried and run away from Levi during a decisive battle, this Lambo didn’t run. Both were in a life and death situation but this Lambo stayed. And he cared. He is scared but he stayed. 

Just like Tsuna who was weak but decided to fight and stay because they care.

The reason why Lambo from universe 2 is not too inclined to act for the Vongola is due to the fact that he is, after all, not even a member of the family. 

THIS! THIS IS THE FIRST 10YL!LAMBO THAT IS FROM THE VONGOLA FAMILY.

And this universe, UNIVERSE 4, is where hope was born. The only universe where they can defeat Byakuran and won over the whole Millefiore family. And it all started because of two Tsunas. The Tsuna who destroyed the Vongola rings therefore opening a possibility, a new singularity, for the first thread. And the Tsuna who decided to protect this new singularity with his family.

5. UNIVERSE 5: 10YL!LAMBO (REVAMP)

First of all, why revamp?

BECAUSE I SCREAMED PROUD WHEN HE APPEARED.

This is the Lambo that is a fledgling of the Vongola family.

Compared to the other two TYL, his air is more mature and confident. Whereas Lambo (U2) often fakes a graceful demeanor and Lambo (U4) seems to be more expressive and easily sensitive, this Lambo doesn’t fake his demeanor and he also knows how to express and control his emotions in the brief moment we see him.

He had an idea how to use the lightning helm ver. X and fought as if he had an actual experience in fighting (Again, unlike the Lambo from U2 and U4).

Also:

He recognizes himself as a legit member of the Vongola Family. He respects Tsuna and he expressed a certain degree of gratefulness to be part of the Vongola Family.

Another thing, note that this Lambo do not seem to remember Ooyama because in universe 5, the Shimon family probably did not attack the Vongola. Either Daemon failed to control Shimon or the Shimon rings weren’t discovered. There are countless possibilities so …

[In case you forgot, the Shimon Rings (in U1) were discovered because of an earthquake caused by the returning Vongola family from Universe 4 to Universe 1]

The catch is this: although this Lambo seemed to be the direct line or future self of Lambo from universe 1, these two universes will never meet therefore the whole future of Lambo and the Vongola Family is still unknown.

Although present Lambo is the singularity and he can use the ten-year bazooka to see the future, it is irrelevant. He may end up in one of the parallel universes in thread 1 or he may also end up in any of the fine dust in thread 2. Or even in another thread. We do not know. 

THE POTENTIAL OF UNIVERSE 1 NOT ONLY FOR LAMBO BUT ALSO FOR THE WHOLE VONGOLA FAMILY IS LIMITLESS.

There are lots of possibilities. A lot of what-ifs. So yeah, there’s still a possibility that Tsuna will not be the boss of Vongola and Lambo will not be a guardian even after all the shts they’ve been through.

but don’t worry coz the possibilities/other parallel universes are all the fanfictions we read now sooooo

And for those who are asking: so who is the real Lambo? Which universe is real? In which universe is the real Vongola family in? The answer is, ALL OF THESE UNIVERSES ARE REAL AND ALL THE PEOPLE IN THESE UNIVERSES ARE REAL. My niece’s initial response was: then they’re all just people who share the same appearances and names but they are not the same so no one is real. I told her that they are the same and at the same time not so she shouldn’t individualize them too much. She said that doesn’t make sense so she’ll just imagine that there’s really just one person having different memories and experiences and she is kinda right about that.

In conclusion, Lambo is not just for comedic relief. I know that some people from the fandom finds him annoying and some even hates the idea that he was chosen as a guardian but Lambo is, literally, the singularity. Without Lambo, the plot will not be as interesting as it is. Without Lambo, the plot that we love will not move forward. Lambo is one of the evidence of Amano Akira’s genius writing. Some of you are just not ready for Lambo’s greatness.

Also, I may still be wrong. lol. Amano Akira may have different designs for the complex character of Lambo or Lambos but I definitely enjoyed writing this.
