They've known Ichi for less than a month at this point, and Desscaras is the only one that's interacted with him in depth. But immediately upon learning about the prophecy that he'll be sacrificed to kill the World-Hater, Monegold is furious. Like MAD mad.

She barely knows him, and Desscaras hasn't yet shown how much she cares about him by entering the mentor/pupil contract. At this time, if Ichi dies it's no skin off their back. But she's not only furious on his behalf, but immediately decides to tell him.

He has the right to know and she doesn't hesitate for a moment despite what the coldest, most pragmatic option would be. If Ichi were anyone else, there'd be a high chance of them freaking out over this and possibly running away.

Also getting sidetracked but this also makes me wonder about Jikishirone. Because, she's right, she's not human. As the prophecy Magik, she never needed to get involved like this and decide to help the association with her abilities. But for some reason she's decided to, and she's staying. It may have been a whim, but I can't help but wonder if she got attached to all the witches here in her own non-human way.

Desscaras chases after Uroro for the power to slay the World-Hater, only for someone else to snatch up that opportunity instead. And he might die fulfilling that prophecy, but at least it isn't Desscaras, right? After all, she's much closer to us, and we don't care about this new guy at all. From her perspective, they've avoided the tragedy of the loss of one of their closest friends (up until the moment she enters a contract with Ichi lol)

I wonder if she presented that prophecy thinking that it'd make them happy. That Desscaras wouldn't be able to be responsible for taking on the World-Hater, and they could throw it on someone they barely knew with guaranteed success.

I want to know more about those two. They're very interesting.

Also this was a Monegold/Jikishirone post but also Togeice who offered to take Desscaras' place without hesitation because she knew losing him would break her - but she also puts effort into teaching Ichi how to take care of himself (not just for outside appearances at the banquet!! She teaches him about money, makes sure he has his own account and understands the meaning of it so he can live properly!!!) I love these goddamn witches god bless. They care so much...
