The Six Ravens

This year, @tyrellsimsoficeandfire is not actively taking part in the Three Hazelnuts Christmas Special, although he’s still supporting the project backstage. I ( @danjaley ) am going to keep up the tradition with an adaptation from Grimms’ Fairy Tales: The Six Ravens. (A mixture of “The Six Swans”, “The Seven Ravens” and “The Twelve Brothers”, which all tell essentially the same story.)

The story will post in December, maybe Advent-Calender style, maybe with another schedule - I haven’t decided yet.

Dear simblrs,

it’s been a long time since you last heard from me an I hope you are all doing well. Some of you really sent me kind messages.

💚Good news first: I am great although past months’ situation wasn’t easy for me at first. Actually I thought, I couldn’t finish my Master in History or even worse, that I’d end up unemployed in autumn. I worked a lot in part-time jobs at museums during summer and now I suddenly got a job offer at university. I’m really glad, but that means that academics play a big role now for me.

💚 Which brings me to the sadder part for simblr: I haven’t played TS3 since March and maybe won’t do it for a while. The truth is: I might have lost interest. This might change in the future, but for now I don’t feel like a simmer anymore. I have around 60 sims posts in my drafts and don’t know what to do with them. Should I post them? But they are unfinished drafts for larger projects I once planned. [Many of you’ll understand how my love for Game of Thrones faded, as well]

💚 To my shame I’ve to admit, I became intrigued of TS4 😅 . It’s not as good for storytelling as TS3 but I like build some historical buildings from time to time (thanks to the CC makers Felixandre and TheJim07).

💚 Well, actually, I might need to re-organize the tons of cc I have for TS3. Maybe then the fun I once had will return. Who knows?

I thank you all for the wonderful time we had here together. I will come to visit from time to time and there’s always the possibility of my return next year. I don’t know what @danjaley​ is planning, but maybe she’ll do our annual Christmas Project on her own this year @threehazelnuts​.

The Grandma's head in the broken Window! Best shot! So your TS4 posts are basically a prequel to Maplethorpe Island?

Yeah, I actually meant to write this into the post, but forgot. So last autumn our family-computer’s harddrive got corrupted and I lost my ts4 save with the orphanage of New Crest. I started missing the characters though, so I remade them in ts3. Maybe I’ll bring back Marco and David too, but in the slightly more historically accurate society of Maplethorpe Island a girls’ school felt more fitting.

this is a haunting story, beautiful, so grateful to have it to read atm... And learning a few new things from it, too! I’m rather glad too, that I have this project going on, otherwise it’d be a bit depressing, waiting for life to continue. :/

As usually, I'm impressed and in love with your history nerdness and accuracy :) Quite a lot of inspiration for this story comes from that one trip to Ravenna I once made. My favourite city in Italy.

is there a reason why she is showing her back? Mainly because the whole scene is about her true self not being seen. Also she had to stand out between the other figures. (I used Aaron and Bassianus from the Andronicus cast, and that truly was random, because they were in the save already.)

That's soo beautiful! Haven't seen anything that creative in sims for a while! Doing a viking funeral was always something, I wanted to do. There's that one scene from GOT. This is so very-well done. I imagine how hard it was withs OMSP! Aww, Thank You! I had the funeral of Boromir in my head all the time while staging this. Although it was supposed to be inspired by the story of Alarich’s funeral, in which the Goths stopped a river to bury their king in the riverbed. I realize though, that this is a bit beyond Sims 3, and also I doubt they’d have gone quite so far to bury two women.

That is a beautiful scene! Love how the point of view changes Thank You! If this were a 5-act play, instead of a 5-chapter story, I’d say this scene is the turning-point.

I mean, as far as the Imperials go, it's not thaaaat far-fetched? Still takes advance planning along the lines of Nero's false ceiling, though.

Wonderful!!! I just thought how there is less historical Sims on tumblr these days before I saw your post. I really like that style!

Thank you so much for your lovely note.  This ‘hood is one of three themed ‘hoods I am currently playing.  the main ‘hood is Anglo-Saxon, and the two sub ‘hoods are Viking and Persian.

I am actually using these as tester ‘hoods before I launch in to a Game of Thrones mega ’hood.  I am in the process of planning it all out.

She and Gohar are three-bolters, so I could be nice and bend the rules, let them marry and live happily ever after... Or, I could send the baby to the Foundling Home!
