~ WIP for the Vampire Lestat ✨🍷

The question mark is there because I’ve got a bunch of ideas buzzing around in my head, but I still can’t decide who to put in the last panel on the left (a Claudia and Madeleine flashback? Marius? Akasha? No clue 😅). Warm suggestions are very welcome 🦇❤️

I’m definitely hyped for Season 3. As for Lestat’s pose, I have to admit I studied a few poses from an Italian singer who gives off very similar vibes (aka Damiano David in his prime Måneskin era, back when he lined his eyes with loads of kohl):

When Lestat meets Akasha, he finds her seated motionless on a throne beside Enkil, in a state of apparent petrification. Her skin is described as white, hard, and opaque—like marble, yet with a pearly glow. Despite her stillness, her face holds a serene expression, with dark, moist eyes that seem to watch the world with awareness.

She appears as a young woman of extraordinary beauty—almost too lovely to be truly majestic, for her grace surpasses any deeper sense of mystery.

Lestat is deeply moved by her presence and, at Marius’s urging, speaks to her and kisses her. Later, while playing the violin for her, he succeeds in awakening her from her long slumber.

The version where Arthur pulls the sword from the stone first appeared in the French poem Merlin by Robert de Boron (12th or 13th century).

However, the English author Sir Thomas Malory, in "Le Morte d’Arthur" (1485), wrote that the sword Arthur drew from the stone was not Excalibur.

I’ve never been completely against the good use of AI, to be honest, but I truly believe that art, in all its forms, is something inherently HUMAN and impossible to replicate ✨

The truth is, I know very well that having a smaller but more loyal community is much more important to me: it creates healthy connections, it allows for the exchange of opinions with other illustrators, etc.

But if Instagram, its algorithm, or who knows what else, doesn’t make me even a little visible, how can publishing houses ever find me?

I hate having these silly moments of frustration, and yet here I am tonight, venting to whoever has the patience to read.

It all started from having “gained” two followers yesterday and then losing two today.

Tomorrow I’ll wake up feeling calm as usual and happy with my intimate little community, but tonight I’m in a foul mood! Let me have this—I’m only human, after all!
